Shinawatra Building, Govt Offices Targeted By PCAD

BANGKOK: -- Anti-government protesters have moved out of their position to besiege key buildings across Bangkok on the second day of their "shutdown" operation.

The People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) has threatened to prolong their occupation of major intersections, roads, and landmarks in Bangkok until the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra resigns.

Apart from staging rallies at 7 main locations, PCAD supporters have also been fanning out to other areas to step up their pressure against the government.

Earlier this morning, Buddhist monk Luang Phu Buddha Issara led a PCAD convoy to stage a rally in front of the Ministry of Commerce. The monk explained to the crowd that the rally was meant to criticise the government′s rice-mortgage scheme which, he said, severely affected the price of crops and damaged the national budget.

After spending 2 hours at the Ministry of Commerce, Luang Phu Buddha Issara led the crowd to besiege the Department of International Trade Promotion, accusing the Department officials of giving shelter to key members of the government.

The rally in front of the Department took a tense turn afterwards, when a group of protesters attempted to break through the compound′s front gate, causing the monk to call for calm. An official later emerged from the Department offices and negotiated with Luang Phu Buddha Issara.

The official later told the crowd that the Department of International Trade Promotion did indeed host a group of officials from the Office of Prime Minister for an "urgent meeting", but the group had already left the building before the protesters arrived.

He also asked the protesters not to storm the Department, since its work is crucial to Thailand′s export economy. Satisfied with this explanation, PCAD protesters marched back to their position near Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road.

Another brief excitement occurred in the afternoon when a convoy of military hardware passed near the protesters′ rally site on Chaeng Wattana Road, but army officers reassured the crowd via loudspeakers that the weaponry was being transported to a barrack in Bangkok for future parade show.

PCAD protesters also staged rallies in front of Customs Department, Department of Public Works and City Planning, Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Labour, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the bid to convince the civil servants not to support the government.

The protesters′ targets are not restricted to governmental buildings; earlier this afternoon a group of PCAD supporters left their rally site at Ladprao Intersection and rallied in front of Shinawatra Tower II building, which houses a number of businesses related to the Shinawatra clan.

An employee inside Shinawatra building said all offices have been closed and office workers evacuated from the building "for safety reasons".

I wonder if they scrambled down a rope from a second story window, it wouldn't be the first time.

Funny actually, I read the post and didn't sense a smear.

The monk mentioned also wanted to sell his wat because of a stink in the neighborhood.

Nothing offensive against the monk shown on the truck, just that the jet-set monk was from the same wat.

Wats wrong with that?

It may seem a surprise to some , but this whole shebang was because of the Shinawatras and their mincing pals , so it is hardly earth shattering news that the protesters targeted the building, the only sad aspect was Thaskin wasn't inside.bah.gif

BANGKOK: -- Highlights of the second day of the "shutdown campaign" and its impact on the capital and provinces across the country were anti-government protesters' campaign for civil disobedience:

- About 1,000 protesters marched to the Office of the National Economic Social and Development Board, as they claimed that the PM's secretary-general Suranand Vejjajiva would use the place to work. They blew whistles and urged officials there to stop work for five days. About 100 officials walked out of their office as protesters cheered and blew whistles. Having found no one left in the NESDB office, they close the gate with a big lock.

- PDRC protesters lay siege to the Customs Department from morning till 6pm, urging them to stop work and join their campaign to oust the PM.

- Many educational institutes have suspended classes. They include Srinakharinwirot University, Pathumwan Institute of Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology's two campuses, Bangkok University's Rangsit campus, Chulalongkorn and Thammasat universities, plus Kasetsart's Bang Khen campus, (Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, Rajabhat University's Suan Dusit and Suan Sunandha, and St John University. Ramkhamhaeng University has postponed exams till Friday.

- Protesters marched to the Commerce Ministry in Sanambinnam Road but left after they were told it was closed for three days.

- Protesters marched to the Department of Export Promotions after learning the permanent secretary for the PM's Office would use this place as his office. However, after learning that the protesters were marching there, the high-ranking official did not turn up.

- Protesters continue to block seven intersections in Bangkok: Pathum Wan, Ratchaprasong, Asoke, Sala Daeng, Victory Monument, Lat Phrao, the the Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road.

- As many as 8,000 PDRC protesters rallied in nine southern provinces, according to CAPO spokesman Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo. He said another 50,000 -supporters of the government - had rallied in 32 provinces across the country in support of the government holding an election.

Your version of recent events will come as a suprise to some, probably many, because this "whole shebang" was the result of the some ex dem MP's erecting a stage and calling for street protests to protest against the amnesty bill. Once the amnesty bill was rejected by the Senate and the PTP vowed that they would not resubmit the bill in any way, shape or form, most reasonable people would have thought that the "people" would go back to their homes.

However, the dems had other ideas and sensing an opportunity to capitalise on the unrest and possibly slip in to power via the lawyers (again) unleashed their attack dog, suthep and fed the flames silently in the background.

However suthep had other ideas and cobbled together a complete mish mash of "supporters" under the banner of first, corruption, then anti Shinawatra, then who knows what, to help him on his way to stardom and a "peoples council playing the nationalist card for all its worth. This obviously brought out the Paddites (similar to the Luddites but without the textile labour saving devices, but they still want to destroy things, in this case, democracy).

Welcome to the world of Fab4, but hopefully it's a parallel universe as in mine things are different in order, sequence, timeframe.

most reasonable people know by now that 'going home' is just what the PM prescribed. "lots of procedure to follow', 'now not the time'

In other words, "wait till it's done and it's too late to protest".

No. That was Nen Kham (Phra Wirapol). On the contrary, venerable Luang Por Buddha Issara, abbot of Wat Onoi, is the monk that investigated and personally presented all the evidences of the case to the DSI (many more charges than the ones that you mention). But the DSI did absolutely nothing. Not even revoke his passport.

Luang Por Buddha Issara said that when he finished the case of Nen Kham he would start presenting charges against the brainwashing Dhammakaya mega-cult, but it seems that now he is overwhelmed challenging the evil Shinawatra Clan.

Wrong bell, totally unrelated.

The jetsetting monk was Luang Pu Nen Kham.

This is getting somewhat off-topic but for the sake of accuracy, the monk on the PCAD speaker truck is

Luang Phu Buddha Issara and he is the abbot of Wat Or Noi.

One of his monks was Luang Pu Nenkham Chattigo aka Phra Weerapol Sukpol , theprivate jet setting, Louis Vuitton toting, Rayban equipped monk from the self same Wat.wai.gif

This obviously brought out the Paddites (similar to the Luddites but without the textile labour saving devices, but they still want to destroy things, in this case, democracy).

Their strategy in seizing power from democratically elected government were : Distortion, rumour, untruth, misinformation, smear, lies. Their purpose in sezing power is so that they can have their alleged irregularity, corruption cases discovered by PTP led government sweep under the carpets or whitewashed.

Failing to use the PV temple issue, they turned to amnesty bill. They distorted and killed the amnesty bill so that those PAD leaders accused of serious crimes will have to join them, so that in seizing power they too can have their crimes whitewashed.

They maliciously used the courts and independent agencies. Study closely and you will find CC judges (I am not against CC but the judges) made rulings according to their personal opinions, conjecture, not according to the principle of evidence and justice. Some Judges and so called independent agencies officials were entangled with politics.

Courts and independence agencies process, duties, responsibility are unclear. They are crossing each other's boundary and thus opened to judicial corruption and abused of power and created confusion, lack of trust and transparency. eg. CC judges duty is to rule whether a bill is constitutional or not and thus send the bill back to the lawmakers for further review and scrutiny or re-submit the bill. A bill which is not constitutional does not mean lawmakers violated the law. To rule that lawmakers have violated the law on a bill that passed through parliamentary process is in itself violating section 68.

Therefore, lawmakers reserved the right to not accept the ruling which is unconstitutional. This together with the amnesty bill were distorted to such extend that they were maliciously used by the DEM to incite unrest.

The so called blanket amnesty bill was for reconciliation and unity and moving the country forward. But the DEM smeared and distorted it that it is for one person and whitewash corruption cases. The amnesty bill is not to the advantage of the DEM. Though it covered AV and Suthep, but it does not included their irregularities, and corruption cases discovered by the PTP led government.

Chuwit, the former massage parlor king has rightly said that the DEM's PDRC activities are only for the families of their leader not the country.

Did he? All the press I've seen states that the Abbott was going to present more evidence, not that he had.

Other topics about said Abbot are that he was selling the Wat because of the smell from the next door pet factory and going to donate the proceeds to a "foundation" and of course, following the eight-fold path to leading street protests...............
