FangFerang Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Before anyone can even understand what is going on, the newspapers release conflicting stories. I think printing retractions has never been popular, but it seems non-existent in Thailand.
northernjohn Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 A few grenades thrown at peaceful (?) protesters, a murderattempt on a high-profile red, A few other people killed or injured along the way! And when the dust settles sometime in the future, who are the winners of this chaotic scenario?? As usual the amart aka the real powerful elite and their high backers! The feudal system is saved once again and it is business as usual! Conspiracy theory?? Yes! But as good as any of the other theories thrown around here!! Just out of curiosity. Can you explain where all the foreign investment money pouring into this country relates to the hi so elite? Do they own Toyota or Ford or Honda. Just looking for information. 1
JRSoul Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You missed my point. Neither of us know from the information available, but you were prepared to state that it was "a bushwhacking, a targeted pickoff attempt" with no supporting data, but possibly a reason. My post presents a minimalist statement that characterizes the shooting as a bushwhacking and that presents a conditional, i.e., "If the elite groupings are involved". I make no attempt to identify the shooter or his motive, nor do I attempt to associate the shooter with anyone national or local. My post is a careful and cautious statement. You are assigning much more to my post than I state. Re-read it to see that. Okay, then re-read it again - and again until you get it. I spent most of my working life using logic diagrams to find elusive faults. That has taught me to be very careful how I express things. Your conditional "if" does not logically continue to a later statement, in a new paragraph, beginning " And this is.." which is definite, even if you intended that to happen. Even put sequentially "If the elite groupings are involved going after one of their own, broadly speaking, then none of them are safe. And this is a bushwhacking, a targeted pickoff attempt,...." there is no reason for a reader to assume that the "if" should apply. 1

Nickymaster Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 A red shirt planned attempt to make violence against their own so that they can justify using violence against innocent unarmed protestors. An attempt to incite red shirts to be violent - there is a good chance that the order has undoubtedly come from Dubai!! I will add to this that any human life treated this way is wrong! The one in Dubai is no stranger to murder and inciting murder. I also don't believe that Thaksin would miss this outspoken (self proclaimed) Red Shirt leader.

bigbamboo Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 So many possible motives in this crazy situation here now but you have to ask one important question..... who benefits from a red shirt leader being murdered (as that was clearly the intention) at this point in time? And what with the blanket amnesty and not paying the farmers those redshirt government supporters have been quieter than an Old Trafford crowd when United are losing.....
fab4 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) You've already made your point, crystal clear, with your earlier pathetic comment "Oh dear. So sad. Never mind." That I care very little whether one of the disciples of your little tin god lives or dies was succinctly expressed. There was little pathos because I have almost none for a man I consider despicable. Shooting is too good for some people. However did you think of that user name..................................... My little tin god? Edited January 22, 2014 by fab4 1
F430murci Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 This is a first report and first reports always get modified. Still, it's no secret an assault rifle is far more powerful and devastating than a handgun, so this is a serious development. If the elite groupings are involved going after one of their own, broadly speaking, then none of them are safe. And this is a bushwhacking, a targeted pickoff attempt, which begins to add an eeriness to the shadow boxing already going on. Actually if it was an M16 which uses 5.56 NATO rounds then NO a 45 or 357 is more devastating. It's a larger slug.Edit : it seems it was an AK47.. 7.62... much bigger slug Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app Shows what you know about guns. The muzzle velocity of a .45 is less than 850 fps. Link. The speed of a .357 magnum with a typical 158 gr bullet is about 1100 fps. Link The speed of an M193 bullet fired from an M16 is 3,165 fps. Link There is something called ballistic energy that cannot be matched by any handgun due in part to a short barrel requiring a fast burning powder that doesn't have time to get the bullet up to speed. The rifle will have a slightly slower burning powder and will accelerate the bullet all the way down the barrel. Haha, I just read his statement also. I thought about responding, but figured what what's the use with some folks. I, however, was curious if you would jump on and enlighten. I suppose he would think a 5.7 x .28 a wimpy shot also . . ,-

Popular Post englishoak Posted January 22, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 22, 2014 Udon Thani-based Red Shirt leader shot By Digital Content UDON THANI, Jan 22 - The top Red Shirt leader in this northeastern province was shot this morning, but the injuries are not life threatening. Hardline Red Shirt activist Kwanchai Praipana was reading a newspaper at the radio station of Khon Rak Udon group in the provincial seat when an unknown number of gunmen fired a hail of bullets at him. He was wounded in his right arm and leg and was rushed to a nearby hospital. His wife, Arporn Sarnkam, said Mr Kwanchai is not in critical condition as the bullets did not hit important organs. Initial investigation found that an AK-47 assault rifle was used from about 100 metres from the station's fence. Mr Kwanchai has played an active role in mobilising the supporters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) in the Northeast. The Khon Rak Udon group chairman has organised several movements and forums in the region to support the Feb 2 general election in opposition to the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC)'s demand for the resignation of the caretaker government and national reform before election. AleG Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Whoever did this was unconcerned about road blocks. Daylight assassinations in built-up areas almost always use motorbike-carried hitmen. Very easy to get away. Not easy to get away in a pick up truck unless you know you will be allowed to flee without hindrance. Several of the attacks on anti-government protesters have been drive by shootings from cars.

Popular Post EyesWideOpen Posted January 22, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 22, 2014 This is an odd story.... An assassination attempt from 100 meters away ?? Over the length of a football field, with a weapon that is in essence a short range automatic, that of course will climb on auto fire ,rendering it nearly useless for a long range kill. Am amazed he was hit twice, and equally amazing both extremity parts, leg and arm. I think that there is a lot more to this story than what appears on the surface.... 4

Link There is something called ballistic energy that cannot be matched by any handgun. Right I don't know much about guns. I'm British. I do understand that the bullet goes faster and further .. but it's still a small slug.. hence the reason most special forces around the world use 7.62 or equal rather than the 5.56 .. they want stopping power. Just what I've read.. Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app Most soldiers in the field carry the 5.56 NATO (M16) because it's lighter weight as is the ammo and they can carry at least 200 rounds of ammo. It is also deadly. It tends to tumble when it hits animal, and even break and make multiple wound channels. 7.62 NATO guns and ammo are heavy, and you may find that one or two guys in a unit have that. Even so, the 147 gr. 7.62x51 NATO round travels at 2,733 fps, a far cry from any hand gun with such a bullet. Link Give it up. There's an old saying. "A hand gun is what you use to fight your way to your rifle." Edited January 22, 2014 by NeverSure 2

Only an untrained idiot would attempt a 42 round auto burst. 100m is the MINIMUM distance to train with this weapon, and a competent soldier should be able to hit a man-shaped target at 300m. 1
