According to the UK’s ITV news channel tributes have come pouring in after the death of a popular shop owner who was killed in Koh Samui.

Bob Leedham and his wife Gemma were holidaying in Koh Samui when they were involved in a motorbike accident. It is believed that Gemma is still in hospital.

Mr Leedham was a very well known figure in Hebden Bride in the UK where he ran an old fashioned sweet shop called Something Sweet, local business owner Frances Young said “he was a brilliant bloke”.

The couple only married in March last year, in Borneo, tragedy struck the family once more in September 2012 when Mr Leedham’s son Kevin died of a brain tumor, he was just 36.

Tributes have come pouring in for Mr. Leedham, a passionate Liverpool supporter and local football referee and many flowers have been placed outside his shop.

Mr Leedham and his wife were due to return to the UK today

So sad when a visitor comes to Samui, enjoys their time with us and then something so terrible happens. We love our life here on Samui and just enjoy sharing with holiday makers. There are so many ex-pats here from countries such as Germany, USA, France, Holland, Belgium, UK, Australia (me) and we are all friends together. I do hope that events such as this does not put anyone off coming. All the Brits can get their football live at several sports bars, probably the best being The Premier Bar at Bang Rak where about 6 live games can be seen at once, all on big screens. As for the cricket...........say no more lololol

RIP to Mr Leedham and god speed the recovery of his wife. It can't be said often enough to tourists - DON'T EVER HIRE /RIDE MOTORBIKES IN THAILAND - it is hugely dangerous, you probably have nil experience of riding on two wheels and the roads are brutal and not for the faint hearted, drunk and or inexperienced.
