Popular Post max72 Posted February 3, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 3, 2014 Usually Koh Samui is mitigated by sea breeze, but cool and dry air tonight has allowed a surprise heat loss with the minimum temperature at the airport setting an all-time lowest temperature of 17.8C. http://www.ogimet.com/cgi-bin/gsynres?ind=48550&ano=2014&mes=2&day=3&hora=0&min=0&ndays=30 Previous record was 18.6C in January 1976 http://www.tmd.go.th/programs/uploads/tempstat/min_stat_latest_en.pdf Record of cold temperatures were also set at Hat Yai with 15.8C and Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 15.5C. I bet some people in the South have been wearing sweaters for the first time in their lives. 3
Boater Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 That's a Scottish summer ! Sent from my iPhone 6 using ThaiVisa app 1
robsamui Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Long trousers, sleeves, shoes and socks last night mate! I keep a track with my min/max digital thermometer and last night was not the coldest so far on my balcony. Last night it came down to 19.8. On the 31st it was 19.2. Certainly it all depends on where you are on the island, and I'm quite sheltered by trees and big bushes. No argument it's been cold enough to freeze brass monkeys off a witch, tho. (But now when I go back to the UK I get a hypothermic rash - like a reverse heat rash. And it's the first time in 15 years of being in Thailand I've had it over here!) Khun Khun Khun! R
Battybird Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 It's been colder than that over the last month where we are too.

samuijimmy Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 About 19c at my place this morning, I've not had a fan on in the house for at least a month... but at least the day time temps are pleasant and sunny enough!
AngThong Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Was a lot colder here on Phangan a few weeks ago, been pretty nice the last week or so.
crazykopite Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 No pleasing some folk just take a look at what is happening in the UK at the moment floods and snow and yet people are winging about Samui dropping down to 19 Celsius !!
Popular Post Virt Posted February 4, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 4, 2014 I wouldn't mind 20 C at night time and maybe 28-29 in daytime. That way i could sleep at night without aircon running, but still wear t-shirt and shorts all day long. You should enjoy that you don't have snow outside your windows like some of us do. I hope someday that i can migrate to a warmer country, cause winter sucks in Europe. But will probably have to win the lottery or something before that happens 3
mdmayes Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Im from Canada and I found it to be cold that night. That was the first time I have ever seen people in Lamai putting on jackets, sweaters, blankets, etc. 1
JesseFrank Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 In Pattaya we have reached 14.2°c a few weeks ago, but last night the lowest was 23.6°c
AngThong Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Im from Canada and I found it to be cold that night. That was the first time I have ever seen people in Lamai putting on jackets, sweaters, blankets, etc. I grew up near the Arctic Circle with occasional dips down to -40 C/F in winter and I've been freezing at night. You sure do get acclimatised... 1
longtom Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 No pleasing some folk just take a look at what is happening in the UK at the moment floods and snow and yet people are winging about Samui dropping down to 19 Celsius !! Chill out man, no winging, just a fact that one gets used to the temperatures when living here for a few years. I think we are perfectly able to laugh about ourselves for that (just see AngThongs post just above mine).
balo Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 This is what we call a tropical summer in Norway . Anything above 20 degrees and we walk around nude. 1
searcherkind666 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Possible cause of the extreme weather patterns all over the world is , magnetic pole shift , soon followed by earth crustal displacement . how do you think so many ancient citys and lands ended up under water .

Samui sinking? For sure. Have you seen the amount of cement that they are bringing onto the island for all of the concrete needed for the zillion building projects!!! 16 different construction sites on my little bit of Samui. I reckon that the whole island will sink eventually
