NACC set to charge PM over rice scheme late Feb

PNPOL570211001000501_11022014_120019.jpg

BANGKOk, 11 February (NNT) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is expected to press charges against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for her role in alleged irregularities in the rice-pledging scheme late this month.

According to Witthaya Arkompitak, an NACC member, the agency has been gathering evidence in order to indict the premier and has summoned rice farmers who have lodged complaints against her to testify.

The NACC earlier recommended to the Pheu Thai government that the programme be suspended due to its massive financial losses and large-scale irregularities.

Mr Witthaya has also made known that the agency is speeding up its investigation into the impeachment case against 383 senators and MPs for their support of the Senate composition constitutional amendment. The case is set to be concluded early in March.

Due to the damage this disastrous scheme has caused to the country's reputation and credit worthiness there is no alternative but to pursue those responsible in the courts. As PM and Chairperson of the Rice Committee Khun Yingluck is doubly accountable even if she was merely a pawn in her brother's grand plan.

Dear NACC, please make it happen NOW, don't brag, just Freaking DO IIIIITTT!!!!!! neus.gifneus.gifneus.gifneus.gif

'Judicial coup' is only a rhetoric of the red shirts, for actually being 'caught in the act and dealt with under the law'..... whilst both sides conveniently forget many home-truths

  • Popular Post

yes, how dare the courts abide by the laws of thew country and not what the ptp/red shirts tell them to. Thaksin should have been found guilty(as stated by the judge) when he was let off because he was the pm, this time they are not going to make the same mistake. The only ones bitching are the red supporters because it means their demise and that of the ptp, it is great that the courts are finally doing the correct thing, not doing as they are being threatened to do.

Couldnt happen to a nicer person then ylbah.gif

I am waiting with baited breath!!! :)

The damage caused by the idiotic rice scheme for the Thai rice industry is gigantic.
The rice farmers will have to suffer many years in the future under.
To trivialize this problem is not a solution.

More rumor mongering and reporting of things that have not happened. Only speculation.

Media should be patient and wait until there is a decision.

Just where are the courts going to find an interpreter who speaks fluent Yingluck ?

how many people think she will still actually be here for this, good chance she will do a runner like her brother, we can only hopebiggrin.png

She will not be able to answer the questions of NACC, because she will have urgent business overseas. Maybe to check the production of the tablet computers in China, or to negotiate a new rice deal somewhere in Africa or in the UAE. whistling.gif

It would seem as if the judicial axe is falling on many here in Thailand irrespective of who and what, long may it continue.

However what will be interesting to see will be if those proposed prosecutions are selective or not based upon ones political allegiance or family and crony connections.

Those in power would do well to remember that the Thai people have now realised that they can influence matters as the current movement has shown. let us hope that at last corruption is going to be tackled as well as other matters that of course have yet to be proved without a doubt as illegal etc.

Justice has to be balanced and not influenced by political propaganda and self serving political families and their cronies.

If you are found guilty corruption you deserve what ever you get.

If you were warned by the NACC, World Bank and IMF that the scheme needs to be rethinked due to corruption and you ignore their well intentioned advice and continue the scheme and are found guilty of corruption then you are just plain stupid and deserve what ever you get.

I am waiting with baited breath!!! smile.png

Let's hope it's not bated with rotten fish.

They better send word to immigration to stop YL and the PTP MPs from leaving the country! These people are well known for running and hiding when its their arseeee in a sling.

Their assetts should be frozen as well lest they make a move to disappear soon.

Total admission of the fact that the Coup is dead.

Long live the weasle Judicial Coup.... 5 rice story of the day is it. Great the media really helping out with the Power grab.

Won't get away with it though.... its 2 decades out of date doing this!!

In most normal countries with a real judicial system, the members talking about the case in public like this would automatically have the case thrown out... Which is what needs to happen to this dumb case.

So using your logic, having CAPO and other assorted agencies talking about charging the Protesters etc in the press on a daily basis is grounds for dismissal? Why not just give amnesty to everyone - oops you tried that and it didn't go so well.

There may be a few from within PTP that might attempt to continue to back this collossal scan and its incredible scale of loss and coruption.

Don't blame the press - blame the PTP for failing to act when the Dems brought all these issues to the house a long time ago. Blame Tarit for ignoring it. Blame Yingluck for never attending a meeting. Blame the whole PTP for ignoring all the public comments. Blame PTP for kicking out the civil servant that exposed it.

Don't blame the NACC for doing its job where Tarit failed, PTP failed, Yingluck failed.

But don't call it a judicial coup because that will show how you have failed too.

I guess, soon she is to be reunited with her brother, perhaps he is already shopping for a condo for her.

Though Dubai may not be a nice place for a female, she should be looking elsewhere

As the NACC quietly and diligently amasses all this incriminating evidence, the impeachment of the Yingluck administration is all but inevitable.

Not really,

it just means where there's smoke there's fire and they will prosecute.

Yet you and many others on this board continue to lambast anybody for suggesting

"where there's smoke there's fire and they will prosecute"

with respect to abhisit and sutheps murder charges.

Double standards, surely not.

the only double standard is Thaksin hoping they would run like he did, when accused if charges which have yet to be proven, and will probably turn out to be false.

A dumb case is a case in which the leaders who steal deliberately and ruin the country is a dumb case? Or is that an appropriate word to explain your posts and 'thinking'? Is your bar girl connected to the graft, or just how will you benefit from these clowns?
