Yanyong says farmer leaders at Commerce Ministry are fake

2-17-2014-11-59-14-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Commerce Minister Yanyong Puangrat today called farmer leaders protesting at the Commerce Ministry fake farmers , and declared the government would negotiate only with real farmers.

He said if farmers wanted to meet the caretaker prime minister, then they should group with the real farmer association led by Mr Vichien Puanglamchiak, president of the Association of Thai Farmers and Agriculturists.

Mr Yanyong’s comment on fake farmers came as farmers from across the country are coming today to Bangkok and to the temporary office of the caretaker prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the defense permanent secretary’s office inside the Muangthong Thani complex.

He said the government would not talk to fake farmers, and reiterated that representatives of farmers rallying at the Commerce Ministry are fake farmers.

He pointed his finger to Rawee Runruang, president of the Thai Farmers Network, and Kittisak Ratanawaraha, representative of the northern farmers.

From investigation of their past criminal records, Yanyong said Rawee was a former local administration official in Phetburi pronivce.

He said Rawee was dismissed from government service for involvement in defense volunteer recruitment fraud.

Yanyong said Rawee applied to run in two local elections and currently faced petition on election disqualification, and therefore he is fake farmer.

For another farmer leader Kittisak, the deputy commerce minister said , he is a member of the Phichit’s Or Bo To local administration council. But his family lives in Kamphaengpet and owns eight rai of farmland.

He did not do farming but instead participated in anti-government protest rallies hosted by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) in Phichit from the beginning, Yanyong said.

“Therefore they are not real farmers,” Yanyong said, adding that if farmers wanted to see Ms Yingluck Shinawatra, they should better group with the real farmers led by Mr Vichien Puanglamchiak, president of the Thai Farmers and Agriculturists Association.

He made clear that the caretaker prime minister would not meet fake farmer representatives for fear that they would walk out again.

He said all these fake farmers played politics and the government would not speak to them.

For the money to pay farmers today (Feb 17), Mr Yanyong said he would like the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives to pay in accordance with the degree of trouble each farmer is facing.

For those who have committed suicides, Mr Yanyong advised the bank to pay their families first, and those who are less suffered would be paid later.’

He dismissed first-come-first-serve basis because some are not in heavy trouble.

He said all these farmers’ information the BAAC knew well.

The deputy commerce ministers earlier enraged farmers when he called them fake farmers, prompting them to come to Bangkok to show him rice vouchers for the rice they pledged with the government to confirm they are real farmers.

Stonewalling, naught more. If you have no negotiating position, nothing to give,

then better call the other side fake-negotiators and stall for time.

What difference does it make if you send someone as a representative carrying the vouchers and demanding payment. From what i understand in this is that these farmers are so poor now they cant pay their bills or buy food.

Now the gov wants them pay travel costs to BKK because they wont talk to a representative.

At least in this case he is able to substantiate his allegations someone has pulled his finger out. Let's really see and hear the dam_n truth. Must give credit to Suthep he is a master criminal.in disguise of course.

All these fake farmers too?

Doesn't matter who is leading them, or speaking up for them does it?

They are probably respected people from their rice farming communities, and this idiot is risking comments that can create outrage from the farmers there that are 100% the real deal.

This sort of thing has the ability to turn a so far peaceful demonstration into a full blown violent onslaught.

Well mr. yanyong your pt party had no hesitation to put numerous scaly people, even highly embarrassing severe alcoholics into various senior positions in including deputy minister positions, and even minister positions, in most cases with no capability or experience to do the job. One of your hailed red leaders was recently caught wearing a real policeman uniform and acting in public as a policeman, a serious offence but you say nothing.

pt double standards at every turn.

The arrogance of this man is beyond belief.

You know you've reached the bottom of the

ladder when you are called a "fake farmer."

Yes, it's tantamount to a certain Khun Prompong being referred to as "Deputy Prime Minister" or even "caretaker government spokesman", as opposed to what he should be referred to, "prison inmate"...!

And who decides who is in "heavy trouble?"

In other words, we'll pay the families of the dead farmers first to keep them quiet. Then we'll pay the farmers that support us. The rest we'll pay when we're good and ready, if they haven't killed themselves first, in which case we'll pay their families to keep them quiet.

Ah, I think I start to understand. Any one protesters must be a fake farmer rolleyes.gif

You obviously do not understand. The two "farmers" leaders named are not farmers, full stop.

Nothing whatsoever to do with accusing every protester as fake at all.

Why do you post these false accusations?

This is bloody brilliant !!! Fake farmers, wow never saw that coming.

What a great strategy to avoid having to deal with them...... Well, whoever

said this government is full of morons is eating their hat now. :-)

Oh wait a second. Perhaps this may enrage the farmers, who after a

lifetime of hard work, and who are now being cheated, may not like

being called a fake and dismissed.....

Fake this. Anyone fancy a pint?

Yep, it is becoming a Fast Show sketch.

PTP have had their own Rowley Birkin for ages now, then along comes "ain't rice farmers brilliant, I mean, you don't need to pay them or nothing"

We own more farm land then 8 rai and we are not farmers!

It does not take a rocket scientist to under stand Suthep is desperate to get something that looks like farmer support for his failed protest, they are doing everything possible to gain political gain out of the suffering of farmers and at the same time threatening banks not to make loans to pay the farmers.

Suthep has made it pretty clear he has no intention to negotiate, why should the government waste time with a group that clearly is against negotiations and from the article they (so-called fake farmers) staged a walk out of negotiations already, if they refuse to negotiate maybe they staged one walk out to many!

The real farmers groups have made it clear they are protesting only to get paid the money the government owes them and nothing else,if there are real farmers that want to join Suthep's protest, they are free to chose the groups they wish to support and the government clearly stated they will meet farmers interested in getting paid!

Plain and simple the farmers Suthep pays to attend his rallies, are not the farmers the government will negotiate with!

Cheers

You really need to start a 'reading and interpreting' course. I wrote I thought I started to understand, that any protesting farmer must be a fake farmer'. That's not the same as a downright accusation.

You obviously do not understand that just having the caretaker Dept. Minister of commerce pointing his finger to Rawee Runruang, president of the Thai Farmers Network, and Kittisak Ratanawaraha, representative of the northern farmers and saying they are fake farmers seems somewhat suspicious. Especially when he adds that adding that if farmers wanted to see Ms Yingluck Shinawatra, they should better group with the real farmers led by Mr Vichien Puanglamchiak, president of the Thai Farmers and Agriculturists Association.

Now that last sentence with 'real farmers' suggest a lot, like the two undesired farmer organisations harbour more 'fake' farmers. Or as he said "all these fake farmers played politics and the government would not speak to them."

Of course our former Department of Internal Trade (DIT) Director-General Yanyong Puangrat knows all about farmers, in 2009 he was already discussing the price of packaging with rice packers.

Shouldn't the litmus test be whether the "fake farmer" has a worthless government voucher for pledged rice? The smear allegations made by Yanyong are really irrelevant, because they aren't dispositive as to whether these leaders represent any farmers who have been scammed by the government.

Please do not introduce facts or common sense into the discussion.
