They shouted to see her immediately. But before the situation went out of control, a spokesman of the Office of the Permanent Secretary Maj-Gen Surachart Jitjaeng said the caretaker prime minister has called off the meeting with reason of the mass protest and that her presence could bring inconvenience to the host.Angry farmers then shouted and cursed her.Meanwhile PDRC co-leader Sathit Wongnong-toei spoke through loudspeaker called on the Office of the Permanent Secretary to appoint a representative with authority to meet their leader Suthep Thaugsuban. He said the PDRC leader wanted to clarify the representative the intention of the protesters to eliminate all the Thaksin regime and would return after the clarification.Earlier on the Chaengwattana road, hundreds of nail traps were strewn on a 500- meter stretch of the elevated section of the road causing tyres of several vehicles to go flat. The incident caused added worse traffic jam on the road as well as the expressway exit ramps to Muangthong Thani.Soldiers were called in to close traffic on the section and began to collect the traps. The nail traps were strewn by perpetrators to stop farmers and protesters to travel to the Office of the Permanent Secretary to see the caretaker prime minister.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/yingluck-flees-farmers-protesters/ -- Thai PBS 2014-02-19 1

Popular Post TVGerry Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 Oh dear, the darling of Isaan, the champion of the downtrodden farmers now getting cursed by them and having to flee from them! How the mighty have fallen! Time to go, Ms. Poo. Dubai beckons! 43
rubl Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I wonder who those 'perpetrators' were who put up the nail traps. Waiting for CMPO Chalerm to state the PDRC did it, or some posters here to suggest it was just a group of 'concerned citizens' who happened to have a few nailtraps laying around. 2
Popular Post EyesWideOpen Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 I guess this means that the label of Yingluck as " The darling of Isan" can pretty much be put to rest... 5
Popular Post iancnx Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 This yet again shows a complete lack of leadership, a total disregard for the entire Thai population, a continued trait of irresponsibility, a proven record of dereliction in duty and zero integrity. How can any self-respecting voter irrespective of flag colour support such a person? 34
siampolee Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 A fine demonstration of accountability and a love for both Thailand and its peoples from those that wish to further ruin run the country yet again. Nice to see that it isn't only lowly truck, bus, car and van drivers that flee the scene with alacrity, seems that those who consider themselves superior to the people and indeed the legal system are also capable of fleeing the scene. Indeed the consequence of her brothers action are affecting his sister and her cronies in no uncertain manner. Never mind Thaksin is safe and sound elsewhere and he is not in the least concerned about the fate of his expendable political pawns in his relentless malicious pursuit of absolute power. Ah well it is always a wise move too depart if the kitchen is too hot. 2

Of course not! All those farmers are fake farmers and certainly not from Isaan, but from Down South, like South of Loei and Udon 10

Popular Post icommunity Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 The dem's pdrc/pcad is at the core of the flaming the rice farmers. What had they done to help the farmers under the rice pledging scheme which they have been trying to 'murder'? 4
Popular Post djjamie Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 yingluck will not meet the people. She will say something on TV that is scripted, but she dare not see the protestors. She is a packaged PM. A PM that is brought out to say something then packaged back up and put away again until she needs to make another TV appearance. So yingluck actions speak louder than words. You state the PDRC don't care for the farmers yet they are protesting shoulder to shoulder. You state you care for the famers plight, but can't even take 5 minutes to meet them, look them in the eye and say as much. It is easy to say on TV isn't it puppet. You state you care yet put nails on the road to stop them coming into BKK to protest. (principle of democracy) You care, but your actions state otherwise. 16

Popular Post Why ask Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 Flee? As usual TVF with another red meat posting title. There's no shame in avoiding an angry mob which should be put at a distance in the first place, but this is Thailand. The angry rice farmers ironically standing alongside and in hand with the very reason for their current difficulties in being paid, the PDRC. Continues to amaze how the media generally and the haters here on TVF manage to invert a seditious insurrection by illegal actors of a democratically elected government acting in a responsible and genuine manner to maintain the law and the democracy into a cause juste for a gang of criminals and witless advocates of bringing down the entire Thai state down on their own jingoist heads. "elected government acting in a responsible and genuine manner to maintain the law and the democracy" Keep'em coming. 18

" A Chalerm brainstorm found at the bottom of a whiskey bottle ? Or just good-natured folk who don't want a silly prime minister from being pelted with questions ? This Catch Me If You Can prime minister and her cabinet are now engaged in a comic stealth campaign of dodge and avoid. This incident, and the image of Kittirat being pelted with water bottles two days ago, are reminiscent of the experiences of Marie Antoinette - as an administration so out of touch with the people, that they have to erect nail traps to keep the peasantry away. These images are of an administration on its way out. 10
PatOngo Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Maybe there's a lesson here for the farmers on how to dig holes, the hole she is digging for her clan gets deeper by the day. 1
Popular Post djjamie Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 The angry rice farmers ironically standing alongside and in hand with the very reason for their current difficulties in being paid, the PDRC. All you have inadvertently highlighted is the farmers have smartened up, wised up and are not as gullible as they used to be. Seems some forum member have not caught up yet and the farmers are in actual fact smarter than some other regime supporters. If the PTP blame the PDRC they must be right. Do not use critical thinking. Do not look at facts. Listen to the dear leader. The dear leader is always right. Do not use critical thinking. Always remember the dear leader is right. The farmers know it is not the PDRC's fault that the PTP budgeted for the scheme and said they had the money, stated as much for 3 months before being dissolved that they had the money then 2 days after yingluck dissolved parliament released they didn't have the money. Repeat the chant 20 times. If the PTP blame the PDRC they must be right. Do not use critical thinking. Do not look at facts. Listen to the dear leader. The dear leader is always right. Popular Post dominique355 Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 The dem's pdrc/pcad is at the core of the flaming the rice farmers. What had they done to help the farmers under the rice pledging scheme which they have been trying to 'murder'? The Democrats had a "minimum income guarantee" project for the rice farmers, where they paid the farmers the difference between what they got and THB 10,000 per ton. Under this project, the government did not become the owner of millions of tons of rice they did not know how to handle, but actually improved the financial situation of the farmers without trying to manipulate the rice market (and fall on their nose) like the Shinawatra government. 28

I went by Asoka the other night and there were thousands sitting on the street and walking around. Not sure exact number but would guess 3 or 4 thousand perhaps more wearing colors. If you add the people just passing by not with the red white and blue I would guess 10 thousand over the evening or perhaps more. But this is a busy area every night so number of real supporters is in question. There is however more support for the cause then you may think .... for sure ! Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app

Unlike the PTP scheme which was always unsustainable and designed as nothing more than a gambit to help secure Thaksins amnesty and enrich a few of his buddies. 4
Popular Post bigbamboo Posted February 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2014 I'll say one thing for Thai politicians..... they certainly keep themselves fit. First Chalerm, then Kittirat and now Yingluck have all shown us in the past few days that they can run faster than an Italian soldier. 8
