Thai Commerce Ministry is confident it would sell 1 million tons of rice monthly

Featured Replies

Bt20 billion PROFIT? ..

That's impressive, selling Rice for Bt48,000 per tonne, or 6 x the current open-market price.

The PTP must have been correct all along ... they clearly can manipulate the world market.

Nice work everybody .. stand up and take a bow

Very impressive indeed. PTP should be proud of this - and willing to disclose all details, full transparency and show all 20 billion has been used to pay farmers.

How they sold rice at 6 times the market price to make such a nice profit is something we all eagerly await with interest.

Earlier authorities sold 600,000 tons of rice, netting a profit from the transactions in February of 20 billion baht.

So I assume that the rice now is sold at 33.000 Baht per tonne, about 4 times the world market price.

Well, if small white lies don't work anymore, you need to get in the big artilleries coffee1.gif.pagespeed.ce.Ymlsr09gMJ.gif alt=coffee1.gif width=32 height=24>

NO, no! the article mentions a PROFIT of 20billion, so only the profit for the govt is 33,000THB.....

Yes so that's a sale price of upwards of 48,000 baht per ton. I have to say, if they found buyers at that price then Thaksin is clearly a genius.cheesy.gif

He, Sorry, they, are on Poo's Facebook page checking what to say next..

There are over 15 million tons of various grades of rice in storage in thousands of warehouses throughout the country.

The caretaker government is trying desperately to sell this existing rice at the best possible price and is experiencing difficulty.

I am curious as to what will happen to all the growing rice that is presently in the paddy fields around where I live and throughout growing areas in Thailand.

If the authorities cannot sell existing stocks, what will happen to rice that will be harvested in the coming weeks and months?

Will the pledging fiasco end? What will farmers do with the rice in their fields if there's no one to buy it?

Perhaps some clever answers forthcoming?

You would think if these morons were going to lie, they would try and make it look believable, but considering the whole PTP government is built of greed, corruption, lies and led by a convicted criminal al fugitive, it's just standard PTP BS.
