Soldiers arrested in Nakhon Si Thammarat

KHORAT: -- Four soldiers were arrested after they allegedly fired weapons into the sky in front of Nakhon Si Thammarat's Thung Song police station early yesterday.

After a report that men in a pick-up fired several rounds outside the station at 12.30am, police gave a chase and shot out a rear tyre of the truck.

The soldiers, who had four M16A2 rifles with 143 bullets and beer bottles in the car, were arrested in tambon Na Pho.

Master Sgt First Class Ekkalak Bilmard, 54, Corp Thanes Ratchatakijpaisal, 25, Lance Corp Opas Promrak, 26, and Corp Chatnant Pisitseranee, 25, reportedly told police that after drinking at an army camp they drove past the station and thought it would be fun to throw firecrackers.

A police source suspected the four were angered by the arrest of a soldier for carrying a gun in a market a few days ago.

How many Military have been implicated in illegal acts for the government,during the protest?

Those implicated with the side of the protesters are: 3 soldiers attempted assassination of a Red shirt Leader, two teams of (5) Navy seals, arrested with weapons and PDRC ID cards and one team admitted to being employed by the protests group.

Military type men that ambushed the police, with live fire and grenades and many other incidents which hint of military involvement.

these idiots need to be courtmartialled if they actually did fire the rifles and not throw fire crackers as stated. The other problem here are the police, they SHOT out the rear tyres of the truck, the soldiers supposedly fired into the air so no one would be injured but the police fired at the truck and the police are all hopeless shots so how many bullets ricocheted around the streets/houses. Seems very heavy handed and extremely dangerous for anyone in the area. The police would also need to be draged in for this episode for being such fools and hot heads, especially when the "soldiers" were not returning fire but simply driving away so what was the need to shoot at them risking death or were the police hoping to score some revenge.
