Tabien Baan For Marriage

Featured Replies

I know I need my leave to marriage cert from the Embassy for the MFA then the amphur but what does the missus need?

I heard its the ID Card plus Tabien Baan - anything else?

Is a copy of the Tabien Baan be enough or is the original required?

She has a copy with her in Bangkok now for job applications.

When Mrs Scouse and I married, she showed her original ID card and original tabien baan as well as a document from her home amphur confirming that she'd never before been married.

Scouse.

Thanks for the answer Scouse.

We will be up in her amphur just before the marriage in Bangkok so borrowing the original might be an option - the other option is to marry in the amphur up there but she does not want the village party.

I said she could have one - a joint party as its will be her birthday too but she says she is shy and too many people????

It will throw a spanner in my carefully laid plans for people attending in Bangkok and me having a three day stag somewhere to say goodbye to my "playboy days" as she puts it :o

Register in her home province and have the party/reception in Bangkok. Nobody but you and wife normally attend the registration anyhow. You will probably have to have a Thai/English speaker with you upcountry so they know, you know, what you are signing.

Lopburi

I have literally just come off the phone and were were talking about which Amphur we should go to, Bangkok or Nakhon Phanom and she replied, "Angrit" :D

If it is upcountry there should be fluent Thai/English speakers both farang and Thai so either will be OK.

I have to admit though Bangkok would be better for me as I am planning a 3 day stang night beforehand - she thought she was coming on it till I explained the concept with a lot left out :o

I think you missed the point Lopburi was trying to make. There is no ceremony at the amphur. All you do is sign some papers and then they hand each of you a certificate. How would the location where you sign up affect you having a 3 day stag party in Bangkok?

Sorry I was not clear and I did understand Lopburi but I did not provide enough info

We will be up with the family for a few days after which I will fly down to BKK and meet pals to go away for three days.

We had planned to then meet up again in BKK for 1 night and get married next day. Have meal with few friends etc then head to airport next day for nice resort/island or whatever.
