Phu Doo (ภูดู่ in Thai) Thai-Lao international checkpoint in Uttaradit

Featured Replies

This checkpoint has been opened as a permanent checkpoint as of last year. I am wondering if it has been transformed into an international checkpoint allowing third party nationalities (foreigners) to cross over to Laos, or come back to Thailand yet? All the pictures and reports I have seen vaguely mention that the checkpoint has been upgraded to international status, however, the websites are all Thai based hence no reports of foreigners being allowed across have been mentioned.

I can imagine that even if it's still only a locals crossing, probably later this year or perhaps next year it will become an international checkpoint. Does anyone have anymore information?

The crossing is about 150km east of Uttaradit and 50km from Pak Lay in Saiyabuli province of Laos. The total distance from Uttaradit to Pak Lay is therefore around 200km according to google maps.

The Thai side is ready for foreigners. The Lao are still building an office. Also have to seal the road thru to Highway 4 & build a bridge over river. You can gets close to the Lao side if you go thru Tha Li. Nan crossing.

Nice country in that part of Uttaradit.
