M16 attack at house of hardcore redshirt leader Jatuporn

BANGKOK: -- Unknown number of gunmen attacked the home of hardcore redshirt leader Jatuporn Promphan in Bangkok outskirt district early Wednesday but caused no injury to life.

The attack on his house inside Vistar Park housing estate in Saimai district of Bangkok occurred at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Jatuporn was not at home during the attack but security guards of the housing estate told him that a number of men was seen walking around his house before the shooting.

The guards believed that these men were responsible for the attack.

Jatuporn was alerted and later told the Saimai police for investigation.

Forensic police arrived to inspect his house this morning.

The house wall was riddled with two bullets which Jatuporn said were either caused by M16 or AK47 assault rifles.

Jatuporn said he strongly believed the attack had nothing to do with the Army chief saying the general has honor enough not to order such attack.

He said he trusted Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha and believed the attack was not to retaliate his recent strong verbal attack and challenge on the army chief.

However, he said he also was not certain if the attack was motivated by the current rising political tension.

He said he would like the police to investigate and bring the culprits for trial.

He disclosed that since he took over as the chairman of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), he was welcomed “three times” from opponents but was not shaken by such threat.

He also said that he believed it was not caused by internal conflict within the UDD as all leaders are firmly united.

Jeez "Riddled" is rather an overstatement don't you think......

It was an attack, ok. BUT Riddled is bleeding taking the urine. Who on earth has written this and who on earth is the editor ???

Any proof readers employed ???? he must be puddled to use riddled.

Would seem to be very badly placed bullets, but then it was more than likely an arranged red shooting.

Yes, add it to the bottom of the list, there's 70+ other attacks that they still haven't got ANY suspects for.

Whats the betting the police will get this one resolved pretty darn quickly?

Suspect identifed by thursday, arrested by the weekend?

Id offer a bet, but thats illegal here and i dont want to get deported for it!

To copy red sympathizers who always say the protestors are throwing grenades at themselves.

This is the work of red shirts. They're shooting at themselves to gain sympathy. rolleyes.gif

You are probably not far off the mark.

Seems to have been set up so that Jatuporn could release this ass kissing statement to take the military heat off him.

Strange statement to be coming from such a rabid criminal don't you think?

More to this than meets the eye.

Probably the original Thai was 'phroon' (พรุน), which can also mean perforated. Anyway too many bullets flying in both directions.

The start of guerrilla warfare, but more accurately in this case, it should be gorilla warfare! Bunch of monkey politicians maneuvering their other monkeys!

Another "M" attack in Thailand. Jatuporn wasn't even there, and says it was an M16 or AK-47. Good enough for the media, 50/50 choice, they ran with the "M"16 for the headline. At least it wasn't another M79 attack.

Even if it was perforated (which I doubt very much) it still is a load of crock.

Did Yingluck say "Thank you three times" when he accepted the appointment bestowed by her brother?

Obviously Prayuth didn't order the attack. He has no reason to want to and, if he had ordered it, Jatuporn would be dead.

It is pretty clear that factional in-fighting has started within the red shirts. Thida was summarily dismissed without cause or warning through an imperial command from Dubai and Jatuporn was not democratically elected (nor was Thida). Red shirts who did well financially out of being close to Thida must be feeling the leadership change in their pockets. It is not surprising that they are resorting to violence following the undemocratic removal from power of their revered and beautiful leader. Expect worse to come. A huge quantity of armaments have been imported from Cambodia and Laos and distributed to red shirts. Now they will slug it out amongst themselves like Libyan war lords.

Jatuporn knows very well the weapons. He could quickly identify them.

Maybe he'll be more than shaken soon.....and dangerous position for him now...but you reap what you sow!
