FYI Pattaya Music Festival and Possible Red Rally This Weekend

Featured Replies

Haven't seen any mention of these so just a heads-up that the music festival is this weekend so traffic around town during the afternoons and evenings may be a cockup and Beach Road will likely be closed from early afternoon on Sat/Sun.

Also, there is a large billboard adversiting what seems to me to be a Red political rally somewhere in town maybe this or next weekend. Its at the tip of Central Road and Sukhumvit and in Thai so couldn't read it but it had pictures of all the prominent Reds like Jatuporn so assume it was advertising his appearance at some kind of rally event.

The reds are building a big stage next to Soi Khaotalo on the big empty space between Sukhumvit and Eastern Grand Palace Hotel... Some souvenir shops selling T-Shirts with the slogan "I LOVE POLICE" etc... bah.gifbah.gifbah.gif

I went through the beach area Friday & with the new beach changes the area was hell getting through with all the carts & vehicles delivering the food & stuff. Down to 1 lane barely moving. With a red or a yellow shirt rally that will effectively hurt the attendance of the music venue. I myself wont go near any of the idiotic political rallies Red Yellow or indifferent. And the music is usually very lame & tame in the Pattaya music throwdowns. It is OK if you are into contemporary sounding crap . Great if you are in your 90's hideous if your still young or young at heart. The best music I ever heard was a Thai 15 year old kid playing some Jimmi Hendrics with his teeth.Been done before but he really had game when it came to entertainment. To bad they allow the protesters to vent at an already crowded area that is suppose to be a fun event.

The Red Rally was in full swing last night around 7.30pm with Sukhumvit road being used as a car park (3 lanes of parked vehicles each side) on either side of Soi Khaotalo. I dread to think what it must have been like coming away from the music festival at the end of the night.

Around 6 pm last night, from Nongprue towards town, the motorway was a complete gridlock as far as we could see either way.
