North, northeast residents warned of heat wave, thunderstorms
The Nation

The Meteorological Department Thursday warned people in the north and northeastern provinces to brace themselves for a heat wave and thunderstorms.

In its latest weather advisory announcement, the department said very hot weather and thunderstorms would be caused by a strong high pressure ridge over upper Vietnam that will extend to cover upper Thailand Thursday afternoon.

Moreover, a westerly trough would move from Myanmar to the North and the Northeast between April 4 and 7, resulting in summer thunderstorms and isolated hail in upper Thailand.

The areas most likely be affected are:

April 3-4: Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.

April 4-5: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Phichit, Phetchabun, Loei, Chaiyaphum, Si Saket, Surin, Buri Ram, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Bangkok and its vicinity.

April 6-7: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima.

The department said the low pressure over the Malaca Strait would also bring abundant rain to southern Thailand's west coast on April 3-4.

You forgot Sisaket this time....waiting for rain desperately. . sad.png

One hour of fairly heavy rain in Sa Kaeo province. Now the sun is out.

PLEASE send lots more rain....my plants need it!!

Mahasarakham and we had 3 short but sweet storms come through this afternoon. Temp went from 42 degrees to a very pleasant 26 now. Could still do with heaps more and thunder everywhere so here's hoping.

Continuing to rain in CM...heavily, plants knocked over and now I have every window and door open, cool, cool breezes coming in. Lovely...

A bit late with the warning, it's been 3ll over 42 C in the shade here in Prachin for over a week now. Still 40C now at 8 PM.

Thunder off in the distance but no rain.

Looks set to ruin this year's mango crop, the trees are withering and the unripe fruit all dropping off.

Nong Khai waiting for rain. A big blow last night for a short while, Still hot here at 2115. About 30 minutes I heard thunder from the direction of Laos but no relief here.

It's still 37 degrees in Sisaket, was cloudy two hours ago, rained three drops and stopped.

Wish it would rain now.....
