PHUKET: A series of small drug busts led to a sting operation last night that concluded with the arrest of a Nigerian man for dealing cocaine.

“Last night, we were informed that Somkid ‘Waew’ Kwanngern, 30, was in possession of cocaine so we went to her apartment behind Patong Municipality Fire Department,” said Lt Col Sutthichai Thianpho of the Patong Police.

“She arrived at the apartment at about 7pm. We asked to search her and found 1.2 grams of cocaine,” said Col Suttichai.

Ms Waew told police that she had bought the cocaine from a foreign male through one of her friends.

Ms Waew led police to her friend, named in the arrest report as British national Curtis Martin Taylor, 32, at his apartment on 50 Pi Road.

"We searched him and found one gram of marijuana in his pocket,” said Col Sutthichai.

Police questioned Mr Martin, who told them about Ibenuba Henry Onyinyechukwu. Officers then set up a sting operation involving Ms Somkid to arrest Mr Onyinyechukwu.

“Ms Somkid called Mr Onyinyechukwu asking for 2,500 baht worth of cocaine. They arranged to meet and make the exchange at Mr Martin’s place at KK Apartment,” said Col Suttichai.

Mr Onyinyechukwu soon arrived at the apartment with 5.45 grams of cocaine.

“The two exchanged the drugs and the money, which were fake banknotes provided by police. Ms Somkid signalled the hidden officers after the money was handed over,” explained Col Sutthichai.

Police apprehended Mr Onyinyechukwu and charged him with possession of a Category 2 drug with intent to sell, said Col Sutthichai.

Ms Somkid was also charged with possession of a Category 2 drug and Mr Martin was charged with possession of a Category 5 drug.

Well, Mr Taylor looks suitably glum, and why shouldn't he? How many of us over the years have been pulled up on some minor infringement of the law, only for the ridiculous posturing martinets of the RTP to act as if we'd assassinated you-know-who? While he does not look to be a candidate for Mensa any time soon, I have some sympathy for the hapless farang.

That isn't a bust, just a flabby chest.

Is this the ''High End'' quality tourists that ''Thailand'' are searching for ???

The ''Brit'' guy is a good advert for the UK... ''NOT''....

Opps caught another major Brit Drub loard Good job

In the US the cops just take it away and smoke it themselves. My guess is he will get 20 years for something that fueled the Vietnam war

The story cant be right. 5 grams of marching powder has a street value of 15000 bht and we are to believe she purchased it for 2500. BS!!!!!

Love the way they immediately ratted each other out.

Would you protect the Nigerian for such a measly amount of drug?

What I don't understand is the need for the police to tell the public this,

It is not even possible to roll a spliff with one gram.

Bad luck for the Brit...but by the look of him...he is quiet used to losing...

Meanwhile, whilst police are pulling finger nails & electrocuting the suspects to follow the trail... 6 condos were broken in to and all posessions stolen in Phuket!
