Officials keep close monitoring on assistant teacher examinations

BANGKOK, 20 April 2014, (NNT) - The Education Minister yesterday inspected examination of assistant teachers at Horwang School, after which he expressed his confidence that the test would proceed smoothly.

According to Education Minister Jaturon Chaisaeng, the assistant teacher examination, the first of this year, is different from the previous ones given it is conducted by each respective area’s Office of the Teacher Civil Service Commission. He is convinced that the approach will effectively prevent cheating taking place the way it did last year.

Test takers in Bueng Kan Province are required to wear white T-shirts, black pants, take off their shoes and undergo a full body search before entering the examination room. In addition, all communication devices are prohibited to ensure the competition is fair There are 4,000 exam takers competing for just 11 openings.

Menwhile, Tak Province examiners have deployed CCTV cameras to monitor the 3,600 participants taking the test. Officials also conducted full body searches before allowing test takers to enter the test site.

The cheating was on a wholesale level last year. All across the country and every province. The pass rate was extremely high.

After the results were thrown out and the retesting was done, in some provinces, NO ONE PASSED.

The pay level for an assistant teacher is very low but it is the stepping stone for a full teaching position.
