Russia assures U.S. it won't invade Ukraine: Pentagon
English.news.cn

WASHINGTON, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Russia has assured the United States that it will not invade Ukraine, said the U.S. Department of Defense Monday.

The assurance was given by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, according to a statement released by the U.S. Defense Department.

"Secretary of Defense (Chuck) Hagel spoke today by phone with Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu (and) Shoigu reiterated his assurance that Russian forces would not invade Ukraine," Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in the statement.

The two officials discussed a wide range of issues related to the situation in Ukraine, with Hagel requesting clarification of Russia's intentions in Eastern Ukraine, said Kirby.

Hagel emphasized in the phone call "how dangerous the situation remains and expressed his desire to find a responsible way forward, " and that Ukraine must be included in diplomatic talks, according to Kirby.

Seeing as Russia never admitted it invaded Crimea, it can honestly say it will not invade the rest of Ukraine. Oh, some 60,000 Russian military elements might get lost and find themselves deployed in Eastern Ukraine, but no one should be concerned. Putin always tells the truth, always abides by Russia's international agreements, and has never invaded any countries after the collapse of the USSR. whistling.gif

Bullshit. Russian English and Russian speaking news have not released any of such statements or even hints of it.

Though Russia never said they were going to invade Ukraine , they have said they would protect Russian speaking population from the Neo Nazis.

Once again US makes up a story, runs with it and taps itself on the shoulder for job well done .

Same statements come up in every single thread.

Russia did not invade Crimea , Russia did not force Crimea , Russia did not intermediate Crimea . No matter what spin US propaganda puts out, facts are facts.

Crimea does not and did not want to be under Kiev for decades.

Lovely. Fantastic patterns of thought!

It is a modern world alright.

Edit

In fact someone should make a list from where do good people come from?

Would be a very short list.

Posts discussing Russia assures U.S. it won't invade Ukraine: Pentagon would be on-topic to this thread, while posts regarding the US involvement in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, South Vietnam, etc., would be another altogether different topic. Off topic posts have been removed.

Russia assures the US it will not "invade". Good.

I wonder if, as quid pro quo, the Americans assured the Russians that they would not be invading a nearby country (possibly even Ukraine, but what about Poland, which has 600 American troops paying a friendly visit)?

Very unlikely, since the US has been invading at will wherever it needs to have a stooge government ever since WW2.

But hey, the US is bringing "democracy" when it invades ...

America to invade Ukraine

This time however, Russia has the dominant moral high-ground, Russia also has military might - right on the door-step of Ukraine AND Russia has the economic might with the ability to turn off the gas to Europe. There has been a serious miscalculation of Russian interest and intent over Ukraine. Western arrogance and HATO's bravado has cause the West to over-look clear signs from Russia that it was being pushed too far. HATO defiantly broke all promises made at the collapse of the USSR ...

Interesting that the author's name is Jim Jones ... where have we heard that name before?

The US has over the past couple of decades...lost its way...lost all credibility...American's personal freedoms have all but disappeared with the "patriot act"...it is just a matter of time...before the constant printing of gobs of fiat money...to mask over the lack of ability to pay the national debt...will result in the lose of the USD as the world's currency...the lose of the USD as a sought after currency for trades...a reduction of USD value...and the destruction of the middle class in the US...Russia or China will not have to invade the US...our leaders are systematically destroying the democratic nation...
