Smiling couple arrested for ganja possession in Prachuab Khiri Khan

Smiling+couple+arrested+for+ganja+posses

HUA HIN:-- A farang and his Thai girlfriend were arrested for having ganja in their possession at Hua Yang Police station, Prachuab Khiri Khan.

Even after being arrested the couple seemed to be deeply happy smiling widely to the camera.

Provisions for drug-related offences are contained in a raft of laws variously defined in the Measure for Suppressing Narcotic Offenders Act 2534 (1991) as being 'laws governing narcotics and laws governing active materials which have an active effect on the mind and the nerves.' The two most important Acts for practical purposes are the Narcotics Act 2522 (1979) and the Psychotropic Substances Act 2518 (1975).

Laws regarding cannabis in Thailand are as follows:

  • From 2-15 years imprisonment and a fine of 200,000 – 1,500,000 Baht for production, importation or exportation

  • From 2-10 years imprisonment or a fine of 40,000 – 200,000 Baht or both for disposal or possession for the purpose of disposal. If the quantity is over 10 kilograms, the penalty is increased to a maximum of 15 years and a fine of 200,000 – 1,500,000 Baht

  • Imprisonment not exceeding 5 years and or a fine not exceeding 100,000 Baht or both for possession

  • Imprisonment not exceeding 1 year and a fine of 100,000 – 1,000,000 for consumption

One big happy family, even the BIB are smiling.

They won't be smiling for long if the judge sends them down.

Got a feeling that those in charge will quite enjoy wiping the smile off their faces.

Yeah, when they realize the situation they are in the smiles will soon go. What a pair of total idiots. Mind you that picture did make me chuckle, the thai girls seems completely out of it !!

What plonkers. I have no issue with them smoking a little hash but you really do need to have some respect when you are busted. Most police all over the world are fairly sympathetic towards hash smokers and tend to only bust people being a little too obvious. In my experience (from days gone by) if you were polite, compliant and apologetic then a firm telling off and a warning was all you got. I can't imagine what could have happened to me had I been as cocky as these 2 prats!

being widely available and being used doesn't make it legal in Thailand as they might have discovered by now....

I have to say this is the first time I have seen the suspects point at themselves--and is she actually giving it a two handed point?

What a couple of idiots. I wonder if they were not on something more? They are so unaware of the severity of their predicament that it seems like maybe some Ecstasy or K is involved.

The smile will soon become crying when behind bars as the south jails are same miserable like Bangkwang or if with luck it will be their home for some time!sad.png

So there are at least 4 conflicting laws regarding posession.
In a country with one of the world's highest drunk driving fatality rates.

Yeah, I totally didn't see that coming
=\

I think they are having a chuckle about the ridiculously small amount of weed they got busted with.

As if to say "really, you took the time to arrest us for THIS?"

In a country with one of the world's highest drunk driving fatality rates.

Yeah, and that stupid drug, which destroys families and kills more people than literally any other, is perfectly legal!

Can not solely blame the Thai's for not making sense on this one though; just about every country in the world says "yes" to people getting plastered and acting like fools and driving around in 3000-pound missiles while saying "no" to a harmless plant which has literally never killed anyone.

amazing propaganda as from my experience and lawyer advice 10,000 Baht for bail and the judge fine me 500 Baht and then because not Thai police try to threaten to deport but lawyer say ignore them they just hustlin the fines in this blog are higher than class 1 drug which de kali weedo is not even class 2 making this blog full of misinfo to scare the poor rastaboys.

Ice and Coke are serious crimes but weed needs to be over 1 kilo before it starts to become a little serious but a kilo of weed is less serious than 0.1 grammes of evil powder. Thai law is very very mild for the weedos so dont worry be happy

OFFICIAL THAI DRUG CATERGORIES

I – heroin, amphetamines (ecstasy), methamphetamines (Yaba and Ice)
II – morphine, cocaine, ketamine, codeine, opium and medicinal opium, methadone
III – medicinal drugs which legally contain Category II ingredients
IV – chemicals used to make Category I and II narcotics, like anhydride and acetyl chloride
V – marijuana, the Kratom plant, hallucinogenic mushroom

Lawyer says 100,000 Baht fine is for 10 kilos, he also say Thai judge use discretion which mean people can pay slightly different fine for the same crime

some people act like it is class II to scare potheads into believing there is a big fine

"Thai cannabis is world-famous – Thai “sticks” arguably being the best-known of all exports, so-named for the tell-tale red thread which binds the buds together Thai cannabis was a common sight for stoners throughout the world, although exports have since declined. Last couple of week 5 tonnes was found in Pathum Thani ready for export. The UK Holland and Spain are big importers of Thai Bud"

Clearly the pot smoking has caused some brain damage. Right couple of fools.

They are laughing because they have just solved their visa problem!!

Fully agree with your post.

I recon, if the amount was under 5gr, they will pay around 40'000 THB bail, then a few weeks later go to court.

If they don't crack up in front of the judge like they did in the picture, they will probably be fined 5- 10'000 THB,

get 3 months prison suspended for a year and if they pleaded guilty, their fine will most likely be reduced by 50%

and the prison sentence falls away but not the suspension.

(No guarantee that will happen, it's Thailand, so predictably unpredictable)

Most likely they can retrieve their bail money the same or next day at the police station [if they have a receipt].

No Monkeyhouse [apart from a few hours before the court hearing].

No stamp in their passport [apart from the "Overstay Paid" stamp as one will most likely overstay their tourist visa

whilst waiting for the court day].

Off course, they could probably still go the bribing way [although who in the right mind would commit a serious

crime just to avoid punishment for a minor offence?], I recon that one will cost them considerably more, possibly

even a lengthy holiday in one of the government's own "Hilton".

My advice, leave your drug habits [any drugs] at home when travelling but if you can't, at least don't get caught wink.png

as usual a few days in prison, then got fined 5k and released.

cannabis possession is no big deal nowadays in this country, that can't be said for syntethic drugs...

nothing "bad" will happen to them. all the alcohol-drinking fascists (or diazepam-heads) on TVF can rest assured that these 2 youngsters will not go jail nor face "major" problems for possession of weed. proof me wrong and follow-up this story when they get convicted for 10 years of hard labour, you narrow-minded clowns... wai2.gif

The dufus and the duffet...smiling, not for long though...

Yes siree Bob diffidently stoned..

Don't look at all diffident to me. A tad over-confident if anything. Diffidence will descend as the clouds lift though.

Yeah, when they realize the situation they are in the smiles will soon go. What a pair of total idiots. Mind you that picture did make me chuckle, the thai girls seems completely out of it !!

How many Thai girls do you see in the photo?

I take it that you prefer speed / beer?

The real idiots here are those that don't realise that if all in this country would be smoking pot instead of washing ya ba and ya ice down with copious amounts of alcohol this would be a much better place.
