Woman held on Wednesday admits redshirts links, says she armed herself after Rajamangala clash

BANGKOK: -- A JOINT military-police team launched two more raids and seized a cache of war weapons under the martial law as ordered by Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Deputy Army spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvaree yesterday issued details about one raid in Bangkok's Thawee Wattana district that turned up an AK-47 assault rifle and a loaded magazine, and another in Pathum Thani's Lam Luk Ka district in which a bullet-proof vest and an Army helmet were seized. The officer did not explain when exactly these two raids were conducted.

However, he repeated the Army chief's order against public gatherings, the movement of crowds nationwide and other acts stipulated by the military-installed Peace Order Maintaining Command (POMC).

Separately, the Lop Buri court issued an arrest warrant for Chatcharn Bupphawal, the husband of Janthana Warakorn-sakulkij, whose apartment in Samut Sakhon was raided on Wednesday and found to contain a large cache of war weapons.

The search at her apartment resulted from a tip-off by a former paramilitary ranger based in Lop Buri, whose home was also found full of war weapons in an earlier raid. The ranger was arrested later.

Meanwhile, after further questioning by the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), Janthana claimed that she had bought several war weapons and explosives from a Karen dealer, who was now allegedly dead.

Pol Colonel Akkharadej Phimolsri, a senior CSD officer, said the weapons in her possession would be examined to see if any of them had been used in several previous attacks and it will be completed in a month's time.

The officer also quoted Janthana as saying that she had acquired the weapons for her personal use, especially since people on the other side of the political divide had armed guards.

A person believed to be her roommate has allegedly fled and will face an arrest warrant if this person is found to have helped Janthana acquire the weapons.

A police source said Janthana had admitted to being a red-shirt supporter and regularly taking part in red-shirt rallies.

She has also allegedly said that she began collecting weapons after locals clashed with a red-shirt gathering at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium in December.

Pol Colonel Kamthorn Auicharoen, a police Explosives Ordnance Disposal commander, said 10 explosives-disposal teams had been ordered to be on standby to help CSD officers with POMC tasks.

And how many successful raids did the police do in the seven months they were supposed to stop and prevent shootings and bombings? 28 people dead and many many wounded. That alone is enough reason for the army to step in. Now see if they can root out the shinamaffia.

with a little help from the amartmaffia

blink.png .....how does Janthana know her arms dealer is now dead, did she receive her weapons and test fire them on the dealer....???....shouldn't she be investigated for murder as well....all very convenient, the person she bought the stuff is now dead ?

IMHO the redshirts were, and still probably are, intending to wage a war against anyone who stands in their way, the main goal being to bring back thaksin, all on his orders of course.

Based on the number of arms cache's being found over the last few days, someone was preparing to start a "war"....self defense pigs ar*e...

and one suspects this is the reason the military stepped in...I am not going to get drawn into the Red/Yellow debate...but it seems someone didn't want to play nicely.

This could be a great bust, but as we've seen several times before, and especially under these circumstances, this may just as well be staged. We already know the police chiefs look at themselves as very important people and unquestionably abusing power to keep or increase their importance status. This may be an attempt to suck-up with the Army.

Interesting that they found an army helmet. I have long said that some reds disguised themselves during the 2010 occupation as soldiers so that they could blame Abhisit for random killings. This type of strategy is part and parcel of sociopathic thinking. Thaksin thinks. The reds act.

In generations to come historians will look back on the history of fledgling democracy in Thailand and slap themselves on the head and say " That's it, nickymaster had it nailed all the time, "both sides have war weapons. One side more than the other. Coup justified!", what were we thinking of. coffee1.gif

One side had weapons for unjustifiable attacks the other side had weapons for justifiable defense. I think the historians will be able to work that out even if you can't. The weapons were only one of the many reasons for the justified coup.
