What mobile phone network is best in Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

At the moment, I'm on Dtac, 200baht a month for 500mb of data, there's 100 min of talk time included, but no texts.

The reception is ok, drops sometimes. Data can be a bit slow.

Is there a better option? Is true better? I think I looked at these when I first arrived, but they wanted my passport, for a pay as you go! No contract, which was a bit odd.

Anyway, would appreciate any feedback, I mainly need decent data and texts and a good reception.

I have two phones -- one DTAC and the other AIS. There have been times when I appreciate having one vs. the other depending upon where I am. Hubby has DTAC and True. If you want to have 100% coverage and reliability you need more than one service and between the two of us, we pretty much have all the bases covered (if we're together and able to swap mobile devices). It's all a matter of how important it is for you to have 100% reliability.

In general, I like the AIS performance better, but Hubby like the DTAC office people better when he goes to pay the bills or ask questions at Maya Mall. True is somewhere in between. I like the convenience of their office at Kad Suan Kaew.
