Police nab drug ring 'big player' in Phuket

PHUKET: -- Police believe that the man they arrested in Phuket on Wednesday (June 18) with possession of a substantial amount of amphetamines and methamphetamines is a “big player” of a major drug ring based in Central Thailand.

At about 8pm on Wednesday, narcotics suppression police arrested Kritsakon “Kiet” Yuchareu, 45, of Samut Sakorn after raiding room 310 of Saruda Mansion apartment on Ratsada Anusorn Rd in Ratsada sub-district of Phuket City, where they found 0.94 grams of Ya Ice (Crystal Meth) hidden in the ceiling light fixture.

After subsequent questioning, police say Mr Kiet revealed to them that he had more drugs at a rented room on Ratcha-uthit 200 pee Rd in Patong, where a subsequent search by police uncovered more Ya Ice in several plastic bags, totalling 215.84 grams in weight, in addition to 3,800 ya ba (amphetamine) pills, which were stored in a glass jar hidden in the ceiling.

The street value of the drugs is no less than B2 million.

Police said they'd been tracking Mr Kiet for 7-8 months leading up to the arrest, which is the latest development in a five-year-old investigation into the dealings of the “Ek-Mahachai” drug ring operating out of Samut Sakhon, just west of Bangkok.

The investigation is ongoing.

It amazes me that the army appear to be catching long term criminals on almost a daily basis, whereas previously the RTP were never able to do so.

I wonder why ?

Where was the Army involved in this?

It amazes me that you don't seem to have read the OP at all.

Quote from the OP.

If they were watching him for 7-8 months why didn't they know about the rented room??? Says during questioning he revealed..... This amount he is not the big boss for sure just a pawn. Street value 2 million baht isn't a big deal. All this for five year investigation??? What a crock...

More like another pawn, Not mister big! They never get them.

Better than the usual minnows.

Just over 1 kg is very small time. Now if they catch his supplier, that should be worth crowing about.

i wonder what sort of interrogation methods the BiB use to persuade people to confess to having a hidden stash that is going to put you away for at least 10 years

i cant see any bruises in the photo

The article never said they caught 'Mr Big' but just a 'big player.'

Same as there's a big difference between being 'laaw mahk' and 'hansum man'.
