Gaza crisis: 13 Israeli soldiers, scores of Gazans killed

JERUSALEM: -- Israel and Gaza have both suffered their bloodiest day since the beginning of the current offensive.

Israel says that 13 of its soldiers died since Saturday night, the biggest one-day loss for its army in years.

At least 87 Gazans were reported killed on Sunday - 60 of them in the district of Shejaiya alone. The total death toll in Gaza now stands at more than 425.

Hamas said on Sunday evening that it had captured an Israeli soldier, but this has not been confirmed by Israel.

Celebratory gunfire and shouts could be heard in Gaza City after the claim was made.

Graphic detail of the suffering in Gaza today...

A night and day of ferocious violence has resulted in more than 100 deaths in Gaza, with Palestinian accusations that a bloody assault on the town of Shuja’iya by Israeli forces, leaving bodies on the streets and buildings destroyed, was motivated by revenge for the deaths of 13 soldiers.....

Although still shocking, the death ratio between the bully and the bullied is getting better.

In other words you glad to see Jews being killed?

Now correct me if I am wrong but it was and is Hamas who is firing rockets and refusing ceasefire, so you would think it would be Hamas fighting IDF .

So could you explain why Hamas hardly suffers any casualties ? Is it because they are hiding like rats or the number of civilians is not a truthful number and a huge number of people In that list are actually Hamas fighters ?

In other words you're glad to see Palestinians slaughtered?
Could you explain why Israel suffers hardly any casualties? Is it because they have helicopters and tanks with which to fight stone throwing, while the IDF commanders hide like rats back at HQ?
Of course I can and already did. It's because Israel cares about it's civilians and spends money on shelters, warning sirens and defensive hardware .

Now back over to you, and please do try to answer the question asked instead if TRYING to be smart and answer question with a question

And just to confirm, now you are saying Hamas are the commanders? But stone throwers are the army? So they would not be civilians then, would they?

PS. So who is firing the rockets ? Hamas in Qatar or the civilians?

You miss the point completely, but then, you don't want to get the point. Like all pro-Israelis you point blank refuse to see the immense inequity between the two sides, the huge difference in defence or attack capability, and the greatly disproportionate amount of damage/death inflicted in this tit-for-tat long-running conflict.

You also fail to acknowledge that Israel ties Palestinian hands behind their backs. The fights them. Cowards. Murderous cowards the lot of them.

Maybe the American pro-Israeli stance is not because of the Jewish lobby ( maybe), but maybe it's because the US was founded on a similar scenario; Indigenous people, overrun and killed with superior forces in number and armament, for their land. You can hardly condemn Israel for doing the same thing.

We see a lot of pictures of rocket and bomb attacks or the results of the attacks in Gaza but I haven't seen any pictures of the attacks or the results of the attacks in Israel from Gaza.

This is a small smoldering war. Why no pics of (as someone mentioned earlier) small holes in fields? Here are some reasons:

>>> it would provide range finding services for the other side

>>> Hamas and others could use it on posters - to rouse their supporters. They celebrate when an Israeli soldier is captured because we all know 1 IDF soldier is worth several hundred Palestinian prisoners. So if they had a photo of a destroyed Israeli house or some dead Israelis, that would be grist for the mill.

Did you wake up this morning with you myopic glasses on again? this kind of sarcasm doesn't help,

I just hope that your neighbor, who's hell bent on destroying you and your family, and take your house away from you, will not tunnel in to your lounge room in order to kill and kidnap

a member of your family or better yet, not lode a rocket in to your bed room, let's see how you're gonna

tally the casualties than...

There are plenty out there - all caused by rockets shot from Gaza.

Hamas didn't fire rockets (June 28) in the present round of violence until Israel had spent 2 weeks imprisoning 300 Hamas members, destroying Palestinian homes, and loosing air strikes on Gaza on the pretext of looking for 3 kidnapped Israeli teenagers, who they knew were already dead.(June 12)

Why do you insist on continually posting incorrect information, even though you are often caught? Rockets and mortars have been fired from Gaza throughout every single month of 2014 including all of June - starting on June 1. Hamas was shooting rockets at Israeli civilians both before the teenagers were murdered AND afterwards.

2 rockets were fired by Islamic Jihad both landing in fields without any injuries..one on June 1, and one on June 11. Hamas had been trying to contain IJ since its rapprochment with PA.

And for this without a shred of evidence Netanyahu declared Hamas guilty of the kidnapping. They knew the teenagers were already dead, put a gag order on the Israeli media because they also knew who the 2 perpetrators were. They callously deceived the boys' parents even in their so called search for them.

The IDF in the following 2 weeks mid June killed 10, injured 130 and rounded up 500-600 Hamas-affiliated Palestinians.

Methinks this was a setup.

The only thing that is wrong is that in June there were 2 rocket attacks before the campaign to "find" the kidnapped teens.

The rocket attacks didn't escalate until Israel began its insane campaign to find the kidnapped teens. Why insane? Because they arrested 400 Palestinians (really, 400 suspects?), raided thousands of Palestinian homes and killed 5 in the process of "searching for the teens". Insane because they likely already knew they were dead as they heard the teens get shot on the phone and found the kidnappers car the next day with the blood of the teens in it. Of course this was kept from the media in order to generate more bloodlust among the pro-Israel camp during the search.

Israel's attack on Hamas for the kidnapping, which is also crazy because they had no evidence that it was ordered or that the top members even knew about it, is what triggered the huge escalation in rocket attacks. Read it for yourself.

In May there were 4 rockets and 3 mortars launched. In June, there were 17 attacks.

Please stay on topic.   I think a discussion of joining the EU is a little beyond the scope of this thread.
