Truck driver arrested for drunk driving.

PHUKET: -- Suwit Armaey, 41, had a lucky escape yesterday afternoon (August 3) when his new motorbike was side-swiped by a 22-wheel trailer rig making a U-turn on Thepkrasattri Rd, smashing the bike to pieces.

When police arrived the red-plate bike was lying in a tangled heap in the road while the Bangkok-registered truck was parked at the side of the road, its fuel tank leaking from the impact.

Police breathalysed the truck driver, Pasit Pakdee, 37, getting a positive result. He was arrested for drunk driving.

Mr Suwit, meanwhile, was taken to hospital, missing one finger.

The truck drivers everywhere are so bloody bad....all over the roads....and of course, at the U turn places on roads, they take all the road and couldn't give a fig!

If the pic is where the bike ended up, the rider was very lucky not to have been impaled on the rebar starters on the new pit.....

So surprised there isnt more incidents like this. The man was very lucky.

Regular occurrence of trucks driving in the motor bike lanes on Thapkassatri Road at high speed everyday. They couldnt give a s@it about anyone else.

In reality in Thailand, there are hundreds of these kind of "accidents"....usually they are regarded as only minor news nowadays.....

On the Hua Hin bypass road alone, there are scores of deaths each year due to trucks running cars, pick-ups and bikes off the road.....

Well the man in the pinkish shirt and the lady in the blue/green dress are both looking in the same spot,so can only surmise it's the missing finger

Truck driver breathalised and found positive, should confiscate the truck teach the owners who they should employ and the driver 10yrs in the slammer. The U turning large trucks like this with trailer take up the whole width of the road and they come out in quite short gaps in the oncoming traffic, deadly, encountered it many times driving from Khon Kaen to Bangkok and Pattaya.
