Crime Drug Raid in Ayutthaya on “Party Drug” Dealer
Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. Ayutthaya authorities have arrested a 29-year-old woman in possession of a quantity of “party drugs” after a raid on a suspected drug den, while her husband managed to escape. On 9 August, Ayutthaya Governor Niwat Rungsakorn, Provincial Defence Officer Phuwarin Boonphuphandtanthi, and Assistant Defence Officer Anon Chaichat led the operation, detaining Ms Metinee, also known as “Lin”, at a commercial building in Hua Laem community, Tha Wasukri subdistrict. Seized from the premises were 109 grams of ketamine, 297 ecstasy pills, 31 sachets of collagen powder laced with ecstasy, marketed as “Happy Water”, 20 tablets of the drug “Five Five”, 13 e-cigarettes and 97 vaping pods. Officers also confiscated 737,950 baht in cash and gold jewellery worth around 500,000 baht. The bust followed an operation targeting small-scale dealers in the Hua Laem area, prompted by complaints from residents about drug-related gatherings. Investigators discovered the ground floor of the four-storey building operated as a chicken rice shop, while the upper floors were allegedly used to store and sell drugs popular in night-time entertainment venues, including ketamine, ecstasy-laced sweets and counterfeit collagen products. Undercover officers arranged to purchase drugs from Ms Lin before raiding the property. She was found visibly shocked on the fourth floor when confronted by officials. A search revealed the illicit substances hidden in the bedroom and on the rooftop. Ms Lin reportedly confessed that her husband had been dealing in “party drugs” for four to five years, supplying her with stock to sell to local youths, students and customers ordering via messaging apps. She claimed that at the time of the raid, her husband was not home, leaving her to handle sales in his he absence. During the arrest, Ms Lin’s mother phoned to ask about the situation and her son-in-law’s whereabouts. She expressed disappointment that he had not returned to take responsibility, leaving Ms Lin to face prosecution alone. The suspect and evidence were handed over to Ayutthaya police. She faces charges of possession of Category 1 narcotics (ecstasy and Happy Water) for sale, possession of Category 2 psychotropic substances (ketamine, Five Five pills and vaping pods) for sale and possession of e-cigarettes, all in violation of the law.
