I think they are all over Suk so they can shove their womenfolk into a mall then go chase ladyboys.

It's summer. Temperatures there are probably in the mid 40's, so they like to get out of town to somewhere cooler. Even BKK at 30 degrees is cool to them.

They are also in London. You can see them driving around in their Bugatti Veyrons, McLarens, and Gold plated Range Rovers which they ship over by air for the summer.

!

Same can be said for the farang cousins across the road in nana.

As for taste, the UK is the country which gave us Jordan and the species of human known as the Chav.

Farangs coming to Thailand because it's cooler? Driving around Nana in Bugattis, McLarens and Range Rovers? Whatever you are drinking, take more water with it! Or is it just personal venom that colours your views?

And which haven of culture and intellect do you come from?

Clearly walking around in shorts, wife beater tshirts, gut hanging out with ho d'jour in tow over nana is a better look'

I wonder if they are allowed to stay at The Marriot...or, if they don't even want to, but I know security has been pretty tight around that Marriot for quite a while.

Islamic funds have heavily invested in Marriott and other internationally recognised hotel brands

There were actually quite a few of them working at the WTC, too, didn't seem to stop them. Was Marriott bombed in Bali and Jakarta?

Given your dislike of Arabs, thought you would not wish to stay at property with Arab interests. Don't recall Marriott Bali being attacked

It was the Marriotts in Jakarta and Islamabad...so yes, they have been targets.

How do you know they're Arabs?

Because I worked in Saudi and I know what Arabic sounds like.

They could be practicing a foreign language

Are you deliberately being obnoxious or do you think you're funny ( you're not )?

I wasn't aware that being switched on was a requirement to post on TV. You are starting to be guilty of flaming.

arabs have been a growing market here for 10 years. Bumrungrad is certainly and anchor business as well as the dental costs in thailand. Also the price of electronics and other shopping are a big draw.

i suspect it has more to do with the fact that the OP is a stranger to the mahanakorn than the fact that the arabs have come out of nowhere.

mahanakorn is in Silom area. What relevance to Suk?

I've only been going to Suk Soi 4 area for over 20 years, so what do I know?

Clearly not much. Makarnakorn more broadly refers to the metropolis of Bangkok. ie krungthep maharnakorn.

Mahanakorn quite literally means means large city or capital city -- so what do you know? apparently very little.

i admit to living in the area for pretty much as long as you have been visiting, and the arabs are certainly not a recent occurrence.

you seemed to have picked up very little local knowledge during your visits.

Go easy. Remember, it is really Arabic which is his forte, cause he 'knows what it sounds like'.

That Took Lai Dee restaurant is cheap as chips. OP's taking the piss

If he can't afford it, he can go elsewhere.

No point blaming the Arabs; the price increases are down to the cost of foodstuffs, inflation and the national minimum wage.

This isn't his personal time warp where prices never go up.

Maybe time to remove the Took ?

This from 9 years ago. Note the references to shopping. This is what makes quality tourists, not those smelly backpackers who want to get some kulcha.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/43284-shunned-by-west-arabs-flock-to-bangkok/

It is interesting to look back at this thread from almost a decade ago. Have our views got more tolerant? Or has Thai Visa's moderation policy become stricter? Some real vitriol against Arabs back then.

How do you know they're Arabs?

Yes, a huge assumption as they look exactly the same as people from other parts of the world who all look the same but I suppose they could be just dressing as Arabs used to dress before everyone looked the same.

What you do is you travel around the world and make a mental note of the differences in appearance of people located in the various regions; you may consider that a lot of it has to do with climate and tradition.

Never heard it referred to as such in over 20 years. Perhaps you could give some evidence, as in a photo of a sign saying that ( but you won't of course ).

BS. The cost of a meal up north hasn't gone up 25 % in a year. In Bkk, off Sukhumvit and other high density tourist areas, meal prices are little changed from 10 years ago.

Are you being deliberatly obtuse? I never said the Arabs are a recent occurance. What I said, if you took the time to read what I wrote, is why are there so many now? It's in big letters in the title of the thread if you don't know where to look.

<you seemed to have picked up very little local knowledge during your visits.>

And you seem to have picked up little ability to comprehend the written word in your lifetime.
