I need to have the cable for light and power in the village to be replaced.

I will need 3 wire from same feed Neutral - Live - Light(By photocell)

As i am not sure i have room on pole to support 3 separate wire (THW-A #10) i like to know if there are any 3 x 10 cable that i can run in one line instead.

Thanks,

Are you saying that you want to replace the village cables at your expense? Not a good idea in my opinion. In any case, you will need to coordinate with your local PEA (or whoever supplies your power).

For #10 - are you referring to 10 AWG or 10 mm2? In either case, it's probably not enough for "village wiring".

And, I've never seen 3-core cable used for power distribution.

It is internal wiring and is run by VAG 2 x 2,5 today after the meter
Its small load only max 2kw over 300m strech

It is to improve the villag light and dont have to be 10mm2.

As there seem to be no room on the pole to run 3 seperate wires without getting to low i look for differnt solution i can run parallel with other cables.

Similar to this.

2kW at 300m needs 10mm2 really, you'll get away with 6mm2 (9% volt drop) if it's not a motor load or is distributed along the run.

3 core VCT or NYY will support itself provided the poles are not too far apart, if they're already installed they will likely be fine.

Unfortunately multi-core cable in aluminium isn't readily available, so copper it will have to be sad.png

How do you intend tapping into a multi-core cable for each lighting drop?

Let's shunt this across to Electrical

The owersizing is just to be on the safe side for future use. And i run power outlet paralell to light so the max load can be higher for the common neutral. For tapping i am not sure yet but i hope there will be some sort of puncture clamp to use similar to the one used to connect house mains.

Any suggestions or spesification appreciated.

Thsnks.

Another option might be one of these... Don't know who, but they've been installing these Solar Powered (Battery Reserve) LED lights in many villages throughout Chiang Rai Provence.

These suckers put out a lot of light. Whoever this 'someone' was, they had dug a whole near our house but as we already provide a Fluorescent light with a Photocell 'they' decided to install it instead way down at the corner of our narrow soi. And, of course, they did it Thai Style with the Pole directly making physical contact with the overhead Bare Neutral and Coated Hot/Load. Oh well, at least it's mostly grounded to neutral.

Just thought I'd share.

Is there any manufacture name on the pole or lamp that you can see.

We have all the old ones but it would be nice to look into...

Doesn't seem the manufacturer, or the people who put it up believe in gratuitous self promotion. No stickers, no labels, nothing.

Though, we had about 10 or so go up all together so I'm assuming it was part of local or provincial project. I'll add into here if I ever find out.
