Buying imported fruit is so hit and miss.
Ditto Avocados. Seem to have a ripe 'window' of about 15 minutes. From cricket-ball hardness to mushy brown crud almost instantly. -

Pattaya police intervene to stop violence as Kuwaiti tourists clash
Constantly get into altercations and incidents requiring police presence (like racing scooters around all night) in a particular area of the city - meh. 200 baht fine and carry on. 4 days later, same thing - meh, 200 baht and carry on. 4 days later, similar thing - meh, (repeat as often as needed). But catch some 75 year old geezer that's been here 30 years but missed renewing his Extension and is on 1 or 2 days overstay ? Off to jail you go ! Blacklisted and deported ! You evil person ! You are ruining Thailand's good image ! (Remember that story from last year ? Some 70+ year old geezer living in Nakhon Nowhere gets a visit from the Elite "Smart Car" unit who find he's on overstay. Arrested on the spot and hauled off to jail. They never even let him close the front door to his house (judging by the open door seen in the photos as they were taking the old guy in cuffs to the police car). And if you don't have friends - or a lawyer's number in your wallet - you're basically screwed. I recall about 25 years ago when I was at a friend's bar on Walking Street. A group of police were coming down the street and one of the bargirls suddenly grabs her purse and flies out the back like her pants were on fire. Couple nights later I was talking to the mamasan and noticed the girl wasn't working. She said she'd been fired because she'd lied about her age - which is why she ran when she saw the cops. The mamasan said the girl was working at a different bar - "in the Allah area" as she called it. (The little corner area behind the Marine Hotel, in the little section along soi 16. Used to be a lot of "Arab" bars there years ago). Seems the girl went there because "the police never check "those" bars. Which also explained why so many of them had hooka pipes sitting in plain view despite being "illegal" (for whatever reason). That area (the "Arab Quarter") was kind of a "no go zone" for a long time, especially if you were white, spoke English and had short hair. They all just assumed you were American and they hated Americans. And apparently even the Police didn't venture in that area very often either. I guess not much has changed in those 25 years. -

Mass Arrests Follow Violent Far-Right Demonstrations Across the UK
In his weird world - they've all gone quiet now after having a spasm of race war fevered dreams. Thailand for some reason attracts many of this type. -

Now that we've got de ticket...What wllb dream team pick for Harris-Walz cabinet after Nov?
It was a ruinous miscast. Garland has never been a "go getter" or "go get um" kind of guy, though he could have been an effective SC justice. Too bad for him - and for us - he missed his chances. -

Belgian Man Rescued from Locked Car After Fan Drains Battery
This fairly bizarre incident could have easily been resolved by simply opening the hood. The vast majority of new cars just simply have lever mechanisms that are not electronic, which leads to a latch under the hood at which point they could have simply applied bumper cables to the battery, and unlocked the door. It would appear to me that somebody did not have their thinking cap on, and it would also appear that this was quite an overreaction to a situation that was less than an emergency. -

Lloyds bank insists on sending a pass code to my mobile.
You won't be successful in requesting they stop requiring a OTP but most UK banks will send the code to your e-mail address if you ask them. I could not receive OTP's for years as I live in an area with no mobile signal. I was only when my bank agreed to send OTP's by e-mail that I could fully use online banking. -

Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
IIRC you just played the education card, so you are a fine one to talk about ad hominem. You know nothing about me or what I have achieved. Not interested in a p!ssing contest. -

VLC Media Player Has Crashed.
Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. First time in many years I had a problem with VLC. First, I downloaded and installed an update, but still no luv. So I deleted the program and as many folders as I could identify that were associated with it (manually, no dedicated cleanup software. It's been years since I needed cleanup software, and I didn't want to spend the time relearning the software unless I had to). Since I downloaded and installed the latest version, it's been working fine. Win 10 laptop, playing off about 6 USB 2-1/2" Hard Drives (Not SSD's) with capacity of 1, 2 and 4 TB each. They're connected to my laptop through an Orico 13 port powered USB adapter, which I absolutely love. Obviously, YMMV. -

First Crown Court Sentences Handed Down in UK Riots Just the Tip of the Iceberg
The current UK Government is just over 4 weeks old, they can’t be reasonably blamed for the mess the last 14 year old Tory Government left them. -
