High quality wood door replacement wanted

Can anyone recommend a store or shop where I can find a good solid wood door replacement? I once found a Company at a Bitec home show selling solid teak doors imported from Burma but when I contacted them later, their sales lady said the owners where over seas and she wasn't interested in taking my information. I tried Homepro, Boonthavorn, Thaiwatsaduk and even Soi Wood near the river but have not found any good quality solid wood doors. Any recommendations?

Let's try this in DIY for more directed coverage, we had our doors made by a local 'door man' I'll see if I can find his catalogue.

I'm assuming you're in BKK.

Here we go, I found the door guy's catalogue, he's worth a call (you'll need a Thai speaker) he may have a 'friend' in your area or even be prepared to ship to you if a sensible sized order, at the least it will give you an idea what the small factories are producing.

Talked to Wifey, he has a deal with our contractor so the pricing was secret, but you can bet it wasn't silly.

It's a 10MB download I'm afraid :- http://www.crossy.co.uk/Handy%20Files/Doors.PDF

And of course the whole world now knows what doors we have where smile.png

just drive around and look at the wood/doorshops....teakwood door costs more then 10k baht but will last for lifetime.

Redwood ismuch cheaper.

I also need 2 s but am still looking for a good shop, i need one to be made custom sized and that's hard to find.

Did you try the "teakwood street" in bangkok?

Hi. Thanks. Yes I tried teak street (Soi Wood) as the taxis know it. I only found hollow doors and no once was interested to direct me to a supplier. Did get close when one shop said I should try sound proof doors like in Karaoke rooms. The company I once found at a booth at a Bitic home show had very nice solid teak doors imported from Burma. The one I liked was about 2 inches thick and felt very solid in a modern contemporary style. They wanted about 30K Baht for it. But I lost their contact after their rude Thai sales lady wouldn't take my information for them to call me back. I was told the owners were a British couple with their local shop near Chatuchak.

I find this very hard to believe, whereabouts did you actually go?

What do you mean by teak street (soi wood)?

Did you go to Bang Sue in Bkk, thats over a kilometere long and sells a variety of wood, including wooden doors, from anywhere from 5-15,000 baht per door.

They will make custom made doors there on the premises for you, in the back of the shops are lathes, planers, sanders etc etc, what sort of door do you want, single or double?

Mai Daeng is the way to go, you will get a very nice double door for about 25/30k baht.

Dont forget the brass handles, locks and hinges will be extra.

Thanks. Last visit I had a shop customize cut and lathe some teak and filler hard wood for the door frame. But I didn't like the quality of the wood for a door. If only I could find the shop the British couple owned that were importing old teak from Burma.

It's called paranoia.

Our contractor has always preferred doors (over several decades) from several shops on Ram Inthra Road (West Bound) between Ring Road and At Narong Expressway - although there are several places here on Latphao Road near Chok Chai 4.
