Popular Post BestBitterPhuket Posted September 26, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 26, 2014 The demand for food an beach services will still be there and new businesses will start up LEGALLY to fill the void. There are many people who lost their livelihood, but look at it this way. The man who bought my car from the thief who stole it from me and then he used it for years, will be very sad when I take it back. Should I feel sorry for taking it back? Hell no. Good job by the new government! 3
Emster23 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I do hope they present former owners of these places with demolition and removal of rubble bill, and enforce payment.
Crazy chef 1 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I do hope they present former owners of these places with demolition and removal of rubble bill, and enforce payment. ain't gonna happen.
Johnnie99 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 At least they are actually doing what they said. All power to them for doing so. Well done and praise where praise is due. 1
PREM-R Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Maybe, in a year or two, ‘the government’ will announce that “due to demands to supply services to tourists in the beach areas”, public land around the beaches will be put up for auction to the highest bidder. Sealed envelopes will be submitted and then, the winner is…… (Enter the name of any mega-rich Bangkok based, Chinese-Thai family.) But I am just guessing.
sawadee1947 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Knowing how things work in Thailand that Rubble and mess will be there for the next 30 years.... yes, the same as in SUKHOTHAI, isn't it? 1
monkeycountry Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 "Mr Sarawut said that officials will be able to clear the area in about a week, after which the land will be returned to public use. The OrBorTor will find ways to help those whose businesses have been turned into rubble." So first the encroachers steal from the public, then they get away with doing it without paying any fines or going to jail, then the public has to pay to demolish their illegal buildings, as the encroachers did not want to pay for that either, and now the public (OrBorTor) has to find ways to help the encroachers??? It seems weird that if you steal say 10 million baht worth of public land, and get caught, then you are not punished at all, but are instead treated as a victim that has to be helped, but if you steal say 100,000 from a public bank, and get caught, then you go to jail for 20 years! 1
Don Aleman Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Beach suppliers of recliners/food/beverages/massages now all gone and those dwelling on the dirty/littered shrunken bitch will either have to bring a truck load of goods with them or risk their lives crossing the raceway just East to get a cool drink or anything for that matter. Nice job Cluseau !
dogleg Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Knowing how things work in Thailand that Rubble and mess will be there for the next 30 years.... yes, the same as in SUKHOTHAI, isn't it? Ayutthaya is a bloody mess too. 1
dogleg Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Surely the local government people who illegally 'let' the beach to them should be paying?
DrDave Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Beach suppliers of recliners/food/beverages/massages now all gone and those dwelling on the dirty/littered shrunken bitch will either have to bring a truck load of goods with them or risk their lives crossing the raceway just East to get a cool drink or anything for that matter. Nice job Cluseau ! Don't worry - the vendors will be back in short order. At Patong Beach, the parasails, jetskis, massage ladies, drink vendors, and roaming peddlers are all back, although a little more low-key than before the "purge". Gone are all of the signboards, but the services are still there - you might just have to look a little harder for them. See a few mats laid out at the back of the beach? That would be the massage ladies. See a guy sitting next to a large cooler at the back of the beach? He's selling drinks. See some guys walking around with laminated cards? They're drumming up business for the parasails and jetskis. Feeling hungry - not to worry, a roaming vendor will be by shortly with a tray of fried chicken and shrimp, or fruit. Bottom line: same-same, but different.
ALFREDO Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Knowing how things work in Thailand that Rubble and mess will be there for the next 30 years.... In the moment they work a bit differently.
lee b Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 yes they have taken them down, but when it seems that everyone is gone and all is forgotten, exactly how long will it be before they are rebuilt and back in bussiness???
aussieinphuket Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Hi RobertheBruce if you go to where Lotus was at Bangtao/Layan the rubble has all gone and when i went past tuesday there were about another 4 to 6 guys walking around with plastic sacks picking up rubbish from the demolish they missed so i think it should get there eventually as you say.. Surin beach has also been cleaned up... so fingers crossed they will do same at Naithon and Naiyang..
grumpyoldman Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Hopefully they will allow some legally permitted restaurants to return there as the rates that the resorts along there charge for food and drinks is outrageous.
