BMTA launches new image and ‘Wi-Fi equipped air-conditioned buses’ welcoming ASEAN community

BANGKOK, 2 October 2014 (NNT) - Mr. Narade Boonpiam, Acting Director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) said on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of BMTA establishment that the BMTA has re-launched a more modern and updated image by redesigning its logo and changing the colour of buses.

Furthermore, it has collaborated with private companies who have been granted concession to install Wi-Fi routers on 375 Euro-2 buses as a pilot scheme between October and December of this year, and will extend to cover a further 1,500 NGV air-conditioned buses by 2016. Passengers can automatically connect to the Wi-Fi signal with no charge.

In response to the upcoming ASEAN Community integration in 2015, the BMTA has also prepared bus route signs in both Thai and English to be placed on all buses, including non air-conditioned ones. The signs will indicate significant locations where each bus will pass through, for the convenience of passengers.
