Costas2008 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Leaving the scene of an accident, a very serious offence in many countries, but i am not sure if it matters in Tailand. It does now, wait and see what he gets especially being a naval officer. This government will not tolerate behaviour like that from its own people.
TVGerry Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Not an officer, just a petty officer. If there's a big enough stink, I doubt he'll get away with it seeing he's such a junior sailor. At least I hope.
ClutchClark Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Don't you guys think there is more to this story? He hit and killed a co-worker who was of equal rank. Just a coincidence or payback?
LennyW Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Don't you guys think there is more to this story? He hit and killed a co-worker who was of equal rank. Just a coincidence or payback? Since there is literally 1000's of navy personnel around Sathahip probably a coincidence, but...... 2
petermik Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Leaving the scene of an accident, a very serious offence in many countries, but i am not sure if it matters in Tailand. A life is cheap here-sadly 1
clockman Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 The headlines are wrong. He only surrendered, because he was caught. On c.c.t.v. Not through guilt! 2
chinostar Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Run? scared of what? A guy injured, died, so no need to take care of. This is so common in Thailand. 1
Baerboxer Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Leaving the scene of an accident, a very serious offence in many countries, but i am not sure if it matters in Tailand. It's a serious offence here, but only if you're caught................ and not rich and well connected. Maybe he'll have to attend a military "exercise" in Singapore and come down with a very bad cold and not able to travel. 1
joebrown Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I notice the Pattaya Daily News report failed to mention any charges being brought against the offender for leaving the scene of the 'accident' which involved personal injury to another. Maybe this is just an oversight on the part of the reporter/editor. If not, it might explain why there are so many 'hit and then run' traffic violations in Thailand. Maybe the offender had reasons to disappear for a while, before surrenderiing to the police!!

Nemesis7 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I bet he was ordered to surrender to police as his base already found out and he was served with warrant. Misleading headline in the news.
bangkokheat Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Leaving the scene of an accident, a very serious offence in many countries, but i am not sure if it matters in Tailand. everyone does it here so it must be ok
mikebell Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Run? scared of what? A guy injured, died, so no need to take care of. This is so common in Thailand. And it gives him time to sober up.
