webfact Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Jatuporn cancels birthday celebration planned by red-shirt core membersBANGKOK: -- United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) chairman Jatuporn Promphan has scrapped a plan by core members of the movement to stage a birthday celebration for him at Bonanza resort in Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, on Sunday. According to the planned schedule, red-shirt core members would gather at a temple to pay homage to Luang Por Thuad statue said to be the world’s biggest of this kind and then proceeded to the spacious Bonanza resort to hold a birthday celebration for Mr Jatuporn. But Jatuporn reportedly turned down all the birthday activities which were planned by someone else without his prior knowledge. Also, the planned celebration could be exploited for political gains as it might go against the martial law, it was reported. The UDD chairman however held a private birthday party among family members and close friends.(Photo : ThaiPBS file)Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/jatuporn-cancels-birthday-celebration-planned-red-shirt-core-members/ -- Thai PBS 2014-10-06

He still has a long way to go to top Thida on that regard, her statement that the Red Shirts did not support violence literally 10 seconds after the whole "War Drum" assembly burst into cheering and clapping at the "good news" of five people being murdered in Trad is very hard to beat. If he makes it to that level maybe he will get elected appointed to the head of the UDD as Thida was. 6
