About two-week-old baby found discarded at bus stop in Pathum Thani

BANGKOK: -- A baby girl believed to be about two weeks old was found discarded on a vending cart near a bus stop in Pathum Thani's Muang district at 1:30 am Tuesday.

A security officer of Tesco Lotus superstore on the opposite road heard the baby crying so he walked toward the spot and found the girl and alerted police. She is now safe in the Pathum Thani Hospital.

I don't know what happened. Sometimes a very young mother with no support system such as a husband or family, may actually believe that her baby will only get the necessary help if someone else takes care of it.

This is the problem with teenage pregnancies.

Although this is my personal assumption.

Still too young to accept any responsibilities.

A sad state of affairs that I'm glad to see that has started to be addressed in Thailand.

Could well be sad for the baby long term and not knowing the full story, could well be sad and traumatic for the mother.

As bad as this seems it is better than Abortion, at least now the baby may be adopted or cared for by the Government.

Although there are too many already.

God Bless the child !!

This baby-girl is only 2 weeks old but she has extremely bad-luck.

Her mother abandoned her as a bag.

And now she will get taking care from state. But these orphanages are without any control and goodness.

I wonder why god denied this kid loving parents?

This happens occasionally in the USA too. A distraught young mother leaves the baby where she knows it will be found. The difference is that if she just knew, she could contact Children's Services which would put the baby into a foster home. There are Americans who volunteer to be foster parents for a time and after being vetted, can be called 24/7. The state then pays them a stipend to cover expenses, and pays the child's medical expenses.

In the end if there's no other permanent solution, the child is put up for adoption and is quickly adopted. There are many childless couples on a waiting list for a baby.

So if the baby was abandoned as this one apparently was, Children's Services would take over and at least nothing bad would happen.

Children's Services would offer the mother welfare money, child care services, food stamps, housing etc. and give the mother the option of keeping the baby if the mother wanted it. The exception would be if they deemed the mother unfit due to drug use or other serious issues.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Christianity: If anything went wrong it was god's will. Pretty convenient isn't it?

In my humble opinion it was not a virtual figure in heaven that denied anything here- it was the parents!

If I had the choice to be aborted or growing up under the care of the government- I would know which way to go…

I wish that I had found her.

I understand you.

My gf's brother is on YaBa and more drunk than not.

Got a girl pregnant, she left him when the baby girl was 3 months old.

We are raising the child for 3 years now, she has a good life with us and I am happy we did takeover the baby.
