His Majesty treated for diverticulitis

BANGKOK: -- His Majesty the King has been treated for diverticulitis and has been administered anti-biotic medicine, the Royal Household Bureau announced Tuesday.


In the eighth announcement following His Majesty admittance to the Siriraj Hospital, the bureau said His Majesty suffered from stomachache and breathed faster than normal level as well as having a fever.

The team of doctors performed an electrocardiogram and did not find any disorder on part of the heart. So, the doctors checked his blood and performed an x-ray on His Majesty's stomach and found the diverticulitis.

As a result, the doctors administered anti-biotic drug, and thus causing the fever to subside. The doctors will continue to administer anti-biotic for His Majesty and will prepare suitable foods until the diverticulitis is cured.

Transport Min to whip out plans to ease traffic jam in big cities

M.R. Sukhumbhand welcomes his ASEAN counterparts to Bangkok

BANGKOK, 5 November 2014 (NNT) - Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra has welcomed the capital city leaders who traveled to Thailand to attend the 2nd Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals before the opening ceremony on Wednesday.


The governor on Tuesday presided over the event to welcome his counterparts from eight ASEAN capitals including Hanoi, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Naypyidaw, Manila, Phnom Penh, Singapore and Vientiane at The Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok. The governors/mayors gave introductions to their projects under the topics such as public safety, ASEAN’s economy, society and culture. The projects will be later presented during the meeting.

The 2nd Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals will officially start on 5 November 2014 at 9 AM. The event is a forum where the governors/mayors exchange views, network and strengthen their relations for security and prosperity of ASEAN.

BANGKOK: -- POLICE ANNOUNCED yesterday that they had arrested two men for allegedly attacking and attempting to rape a French female tourist in Soi Samsen 3 in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district early on Monday. After the woman fought back, the suspects made off with her valuables, police say.

Khon Kaen airport resumes operations Wednesday

KHON KAEN: -- The Khon Kaen International Airport resumed its full operations Wednesday morning after a Thai Airways International plane, that skid off the runway, was cleared from the runway.


The plane that skid off the runway Monday night was cleared from the runway at 3 am Wednesday.

His Majesty being treated for abdominal pain and fever

BANGKOK, 5 November 2014 (NNT) - His Majesty the King was yesterday reported with abdominal pain and high fever caused by the inflammation of a small diverticulum of the large intestine originally diagnosed over 7 years ago.

The latest announcement concerning the royal stay at Siriraj Hospital issued by the Bureau of the Royal Household said His Majesty once again experienced a pain in his abdomen and fever while his breathing was slightly faster. The team of doctors then conducted blood tests and x-rays on His Majesty which showed signs of inflammation of the diverticulum. The doctors therefore prescribed His Majesty antibiotics, resulting in his gradual improvement.

The statement said the doctors will continue the same treatment for His Majesty for a while and will give him the food that is proper for the symptoms until the inflammation is treated. The statement also quoted the doctors as saying the inflammation of the diverticulum of the large intestine may occur occasionally.

Releasing floating lanterns near airports may be punishable by death

BANGKOK, 5 November 2014 (NNT) - The Thai police gave a serious warning to the public that anybody found to be releasing floating lanterns or aiming laser beams into the sky near airports during the Loy Krathong Festival is susceptible to face the death penalty or lifetime imprisonment.
