BANGKOK: -- NokScoot – a joint venture between Thailand's Nok Air and Singapore's Scoot – has officially received its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Department of Civil Aviation of Thailand, Singapore Airlines said in a stock market filing on Tuesday, according to Channel NewsAsia.

The receipt of the AOC will pave the way for NokScoot to apply for operating permits and slots to its intended international routes.

“Promptly, we will submit an application of Japan’s Foreign Air Carrier Permit to the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau,” said NokScoot Chief Executive Officer Piya Yodmani in a statement.

“We hope to launch our service to serve the demand of passengers as soon as possible.”

Nok Air is a Thai low-cost carrier, while Scoot, which is wholly owned by SIA, focuses on medium-haul budget services.

Just another low cost carrier tied to a larger than life carrier, more services and seats for expats and the occasional Thai needing to depart Thailand quickly. cheesy.gif

given the tough competition from major carriers, nokscoot is reasonable.

A friend flew Scoot to Sydney in Scoot business class a few weeks back.

His report: Well aware in advance what Scoot business class means, what they offer in their biz class package, etc., cabin crew efficient and polite and customer focused (S'pore airlines style) overall nice experience, on time, good value for money. Also mentioned if anybody considering a flight to Sydney (or wherever) worth studying the pricing differences on different days / times etc.
