Krit Sripoomseth: 'We're moving it to Bangkok.'

PHUKET: -- The proposal for a mega concert on Kata Beach, the Maya Music Festival, has been withdrawn.

Actor Krit Sripoomseth, who presented the idea to Phuket authorities on October 28, told The Phuket News during a flying visit to the island on Friday (November 7), “We’ve canceled the concert already and we plan to move it to Bangkok. There is no problem here now.”

The decision came after a cool reception from local authorities at the October 28 presentation, especially about holding a commercial event on a public beach so soon after local business operators had been expelled from beaches around Phuket for doing business on the sand.

In light of this opposition Feel Corporation, the company organising the concert, decided to change their plans and move the mega concert to Bangkok.

I don't see how it can be cancelled if it was never on, but still, excellent decision.

whether its a good or a bad idea to hold a concert is a separate matter, but THIS stupidity is typical thai....

"...cool reception from local authorities at the October 28 presentation, especially about holding a commercial event on a public beach so soon after local business operators had been expelled from beaches around Phuket for doing business on the sand..."

HELLO - how about (if (!) such an event is wanted in the first place, the concert organiser pays a commercial rent into the public coffers, NOT being embezzled (!!!!) and that money is fed back into the community... ? Too complicated for Thai...!!?

Let's be clear here: that has nothing to do with "public concern", they just lost their ways at the moment and don't know how to "divide the money" amongst them without being "detected"........ And Thai logic of course dictates that "if I don't get it then I make sure you (the public) don't get it either....". All wrapped in this stupid argument above...

Sickening

Nobody loses face this way.

I'm guessing you've never gone to one. I have and had a great time. It's nice to have friends who introduced me to the biggest rock star in Thailand; Aed Carabao. A very humble intelligent man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aed_Carabao

Yeah, I guess it's better to just sit home, badmouth every idea that comes up, laugh at the local-so called "idiots"- and eventually start complaining and move away (cause there's nothing to do, entertainment-wise)

Par for the course.
