Been all over the north and north east portions of LOS on my CBR 250. Always wear full protective "armor". Yeah, I open it up on the straights with no traffic, as that's part of the fun. One thing I refuse to do - Drive at Night on the highways. Doing that, at speed, is definitely putting your life at risk.

On the other hand, if you say, "Ducati rider dies in Bangkok....". Well, then you get attention

from those who want to see a wealthy douchebag who doesn't know how to ride and probably got the bike from a corrupt rich family, hence

making the whole story a "Som Nom Nah". I'm just speculating....ask yourself why it caught your attention....be honest.

Anyway, Bangkok is perhaps, one of the WORST cities for a sport-bike of that magnitude. Pure arrogance and ego to own and ride

that machine around the horrible roads and derelict drivers of Bangkok....you're asking for trouble.

I feel sometimes that my CBR650F is too sporty for this city, and it's horrendous traffic. Ride safe and never beyond your capabilities.

A mate of mine was killed in Pattaya on his Hayabusa. Hammering down Sukhumvit a pick up pulled out on him and he died instantly.. I have no idea why otherwise sensible people drive like they are devoid of sense when they climb on these powerful bikes

That is a law that needs changing. OK for pickup trucks that break down but not for a bike that is safe at the posted max limits.

We are hearing about riding in an illegal place, so, do readers know that ALL toll roads are closed to all motorcycles? I just rode my $17,000 700cc Honda in from Surin via route 226 to Rt 2 to Rt 1 with intentions of connecting with Rt 9 which takes me to my neighborhood were I know my way around. But noooo! Only after getting there did I learn that Rt 9 is a toll road at that point! I got very lost somewhere near the Mo Chit BTS and wasted 30 minutes just finding my way to known territory. We should be asking why toll roads are completely off limits to full size motorcycles. That explains why someone with a serious piece of machinery is doing something illegal. And this might have a lot to do with why he died. I could have been me and maybe this guy wasn't such a crazy driver. Maybe he just was in unknown territory under pressure to get out of that illegal area he found his way into.

That is a law that needs changing. OK for pickup trucks that break down but not for a bike that is safe at the posted max limits.

Exactly, the sad part is that in Bangkok it is illegal to ride on an expressway, toll way, freeway, over some bridges, and you MUST always ride in the left lane, being the most dangerous lane for a motorcycle full of pot holes, sand, bits of rubbish, smokey buses stopping at any time, people turning left from the centre lane in front of you etc. This is the only country in the world with such restrictions for motorcycles. They are totally unreasonable and make the roads much more dangerous for motorcycles than what they should be.

If he was speeding, it is quite possible that he didn't want a police motorcycle coming up from behind so he was going faster than the traffic for that reason. It is the most motorcycle unfriendly city I have ever seen in my life, after riding through over 30 countries, and through the capital cities of these countries none have restrictions like here.

If they made it better for motorcycles, more people would ride, then less people would drive, and the traffic situation would be much better for everyone. My suggestion would be to also have special lanes to encourage motorcycles in Bangkok, but that would be to sensible to relieve the traffic congestion.

There are a lot of disgusting responses to someone being killed on a motorcycle, showing a total lack of empathy or humanity.

How do you know if he was speeding, or do you believe everything you read in a Thai newspaper? I hope he didn't suffer after the accident.

It says "Investigators said the absence of tire marks on Boromratchonnanee Road suggest Sakdipong was unaware of the vehicle and struck it at full speed. He died instantly." As there were no skid marks, maybe he just didn't see it, maybe he had some type of mechanical failure, like a blowout and lost control but does not mean he was at full speed being 260km/h. If a motorcycle hit the back of a pickup at 100km/h it was be very badly damaged and would be easy for investigators to assume he was speeding and makes for a good story.
