It could be a troll post but at least it served a purpose and should have woken up a few to the reality of the ED Visa.

Reality is the question. Is the post real or an attempt to discredit ED Visa and the schools who provide them? And if so why?

Plenty of TV members seem to take pleasure in boasting that they are on ED Visas and working online and are not required by the school to attend classes.

I don't think it's a troll post but I can expect the OP didn't want his ID revealed. That may be the reason for the secret airport.

I'm probably missing something here, would anyone be able to get their ID put in Thaivisa by knowing which airport he flew into? Would anyone at Immigration tell anyone about who flew in to a certain airport? unless of course it was someone wanted by the police. I do believe though, that there may be something sinister about him not revealing which airport he flew into.

Why ? I don't get it ..however I have encountered some folk years ago in the UK Who have lived there 30 plus years and don't speak a word of English. However these minorities only communicate with their own kind and only watch t.v. of their country of origin. .. trying to be p.c. here ;-)

There are even some that have been here years and never eaten Thai food.

Now you are pulling my leg ... right ?

Absolutely not even some that profess they have never had intimate relations with a Thai.

Am I the only one that is a bit skeptical about all this, sounds very fishy to me, first thing I would have done would have called Wallen or a visa lawyer, strange how after 8 years he has found Thaivisa, hardly been my first priority in this situation when he has never bothered about it before.

Sounds more like someones got it in for Wallen or some other grievance

I think you have a point here, some pictures in the future of the stamps in passport will dispel this point

Due to the original Visa crack down they may be seeing an increase in ED visa's coming through and decided to challenge those carrying them. Totally self destructive as what ever figures TAT publish you would have to be blind not to realise the tourist industry is in melt down

Tourism is not in meltdown, however numbers of longtermers are being caught out, rightly or wrongly. Before many people used the back door to stay here and now the legit people are being caught up as well.Have a good day from Blind Freddy.

And if you was Walen, what would you do?

I would reconsider my business strategy.

Would you do that before or after finding out that nobody called JohnnyBKK was registered at your school? I mean, what have you really got in this topic to use as a basis for your reconsideration?

I think if I got my GF to call the airport and say that her boyfriend was being deported to France don't think it would be difficult to get his name.

What rumors have been floated so far? Blood test for 90 day address report, which can only be done in person and the bit about the ED Visa refusal from an airport which no one knows where. biggrin.png

Does anyone not know what is happening here? coffee1.gif

3 things very disturbing to me:

1) the officer expected him to read and write after 6 months and because he couldn't, he cancelled his ED visa. There is no way you can read and write Thai after 6 months, the language schools don't even teach that after 6 months.

Remember he had a marriage visa for 8 years !!!!! He should speak Thai and be able to read it too... I don't think the officer is wrong in being suspicious . I would be too.

Your probably right, but I really think there is some sinister reason for him not revealing which airport he flew into.

If you have done something wrong Immigration always force you to fly back to your home Country and they will only let you fly with one of their "approved" airlines. Air India is their favorite. Hope you like rats and curry.

He didn't do anything wrong though, he was just denied entrance.

This is very different to having being convicted of a crime (doing something wrong) and subsequently deported.

I seem to remember the case of a certain Russian lady being denied entry in Phuket a few months ago, after being denied entry she flew out of Thailand to Malaysia. They didn't force her to go back to Russia.

So either something has changed or they are lying.

When they nearly denied me, last April, I was able to fly anywhere that I would have decided.

There is even a Thai airways office adjacent the immigration interrogation room who was waiting for my money to buy a ticket...

Hopefully, they realized their mistake and cancelled the denied stamp.

At that time, the head of Survarnabumi was a lady and she suggested me to make a new passport, because I might had to face a lot of questions when re-entering Thailand.

So she is suggesting a new passport wipes off all past history on their computer.Find that hard to believe,as soon as they check your face, your profiled.

Two double entry tourist visas, 4000 baht, 4 extensions 7600 baht for a total of 11,600 for 360 days versus the cost of enrollment in a school, plus ED visa and cost of extensions.

Hi Wayned,

Sorry but it's not correct : What about the travel & hotel expenses to apply to your visa and the visa runs ? If you go to Cambodia or Laos...is the visa free to enter these countries ? More or less the cost is the same...

Also with an ED Visa, you can open a bank account (more easily), get a driving licence and I heard you can also do some part time jobs (not sure about that).

Have a nice day

No part-time jobs allowed

Notice the absence of any comment from the owner principal of the school being alluded to apart from his post stating he had just seen or had just become aware of this thread.

Noticeable that he has not posted in defense of his school and its visa promotion services or any form of comment in defense or to rebuke the O.P. one wonders why this might be, possibly a moot point concerning the visa promotion services?

Sorry I cannot be more helpful, OP, I have no brilliant suggestions. But, I would do as others suggested and wait for the officer to finish his shift. If you haven't already, I would insist on flying to your destination of choice. My guess is that the officer is getting a kick back from the airlines and you shouldn't reward either them or the officer for that. But, I would start with that approach, that you don't want to fly to France, that you want to fly to Malaysia or wherever and do it politely and confidently when the new officer arrives for his shift. A few months ago I had a situation where I was entitled to a 90 day entry stamp for a non-imm multi visa and the officer instead gave me a 30 day entry stamp. When I pointed out the "mistake" I was told that my multi-entry visa would expire before the 90 days, so that a 90 day stamp was not possible. I know very well that the non-imm multi gets a 90 day stamp, it's even posted on a sign at immigration on the Laos border (this was at Don Muang, so no sign, thus making it easier for officers to say whatever they want). I calmly and firmly said, "A 30 day stamp isn't what I or my friends have been getting. I have always received a 90 day stamp even when the multi-visa is nearly finished." The officer said, "OK, how long you want to stay in Thailand?" I said, "What is the rule?" He then said, "OK, I'm sorry, I give you 90 days." Very very strange, but hold your ground and if you do it politely and calmly, you may get them to back down.

Also name and dob would be the same, he'd still be flagged.

And there are more things to his story that just don't add up.

Wow, being that I am on an ED visa and currently outside the country visiting family, I find this thread really disturbing.

Seems beyond belief that they can just deny entry, without first making clear rules about some sort of testing etc.

The part about- Can never enter the country again on your current passport, also seems really out of control to me.

"Mr. X, even though we have no clear testing procedure, one of our officers deemed that your Thai language ability was not as good as he was expecting, so...

You will not be able to enter Thailand for the next 8 years, unless you purposely lose your current passport and get a new one issued."!!!!

Can this really be happening?

Wow, scary!

I was also told at Don Muang a couple of weeks ago that I could never enter on a visa exemption again for the life of my passport. Actually entered two days ago on a visa exemption at Swampy.

Wish that Johnny would tell us which airport he is at as I believe this is highly relevant.

One would assume that if Walen is an astute businessman , then he will have a strategic plan laid out, just for this possible scenario of an ED Visa crackdown. I still think it is highly possible that immigration are wise to the current level of abuse of ED Visas which has been promoted by various Digital Pikeys, Gay Porn Stars, Grind House operators that have continued to boast on TVF about how they live and work on an ED Visa, and don't go to school.

This could very well be the death knell of the Digital Pikey in Thailand. Sorry everyone run out of likes.

I have lived here for 9 years & cannot read Thai although I can speak it quite fluently. I am allergic to onions & garlic & never, ever eat Thai food. But lots of other delicious foods are available. It is possible to live here & not eat Thai food! Thai is a difficult language to learn & people's language skills differ. Not everyone can manage it in 6 months.

Very interesting thread. Makes me wonder which group of expats will be next to face stringent crackdowns. Retirement maybe? All those alcoholic wrecks living on pensions in Pattaya and elsewhere, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the financial requirements are raised significantly in the near future.

Jealousy will get you nowhere,cheers.
