Why not revoke his passport and then you can track him and flush him out where you can send the dogs in to tree him. Is it possible that there are a few associates who want him out of the country and not subject to questioning?

Getting to be quite a list of Thai citizens who have abscounded and hold vast wealth/secrets for which they are not held accountable. I would wager they haqve/had common associoates in some cases and a common special warning system in many cases.

I'm sure that someone who amassed $ 800 in wealth would have come up with the idea to get himself

a second passport or a nationality for time like this...

That is the "plan for tomorrow" that we of another world would consider/implement, this was yesterday in Thailand thinking, thus tomorrow may never happen. Even the abscounded ex PM had to do a quick two step to get travel documents after he lost his Thai passport. When people feel invinceable, good looking , wealthy and stud of the paddock, they sometimes wake up to coyote ugly as a bedfellow. They just want to chew off the arm that belongs to someone else..

What would make matters easier to deal with would be to keep title names on a par with actual achievements and success.

There are so many ruddy Police Generals, Army generals, Lt Generals, Chiefs, General chiefs, Chiefs in General, sub Lt General chiefs.. ad finitum. Nobody seems to know who is who. 2,000 Army Generals,,,,,,, yep.. all needed for sure, as one relates to family ties and the highest level of family tie just because of a name and relative.... PAXO stuffing to that..

It's all utter and complete <deleted> this outdated uniform, badges and epaulette business.....almost like 18th century. Well not almost, but is. Even a secretary in Tambon Ampour has such a uniform with epaulettes and badges that mean complete SFA.

Time to catch up Thailand, and stop copying aged old pseudonyms and appearances... all because of what old daddies and grandparents did.

The guy was silly too run. First offence. No one was killed. Probably would have got a couple of years and out on bail.back to normal life and spending his millions. With all that money probably could buy a few favours in prissy.just made it double worse for himself.

With all that money he could never have gone to jail at all

May have run to Canada, Speculation and conjecture is the staple diet of this country. Either he is in Canada or he is not. Why don't they wit until they have something positive to say before going into print.

If he traveled there on a Thai passport simple have it revoked.

I fully agree with you, ....he could be in Canada, but then again he could still be in Cambodia....!!!!!......talk...talk...talk....and no substance....

I wonder if it's the police or the Journalists......or both ????

Is there an extradition law in place between Thailand and Canada?

OH YES.... Just ask how that worked for Rakesh Sexana who was brought back for making 88 million dollars disappear from the Bangkok Bank. Thai authorities relentlessly pursue their felons for extradition.

There is no doubt whatsoever that the experience in prison for a man with access to money is totally different to that of a poor man. He can eat very well, have a spacious cell, he will have a telephone, alcohol and anything he needs... but he just won't be able to leave just yet. Once the sentence is out of the way, and the dust has settled he will be enjoying regular trips outside and eventually he will be out on parole well before the end of his sentence.

You obviously know nothing about how things work in Bangkok's remand prison.

Sure he may be able to eat well, but only if someone from outside is allowed to send food in, or he buys certain food from the prison shop that has to be paid for, and that is nothing more exciting than normal Thai street food. That is a privilege any prisoner has for just a few baht. The prison does not supply anybody with specially prepared food.

His cell will indeed be spacious, probably about 20m x 10m, including the space for the single communal toilet, spacious enough to accommodate around 30/35 prisoners sleeping on the floor. The only individual cells available are those used for solitary confinement as a punishment and no-one in their right mind would choose to be in one of those.

He will definitely not have a phone and there will be no access to alcohol for him. The only other things he will be able to get are items available from the prison shop that every single prisoner in there can have access to.

He will be making no trips outside unless he becomes well trusted as a prisoner and is selected to be a member of the teams that are sometimes seen around Bangkok dressed in dark blue clothing, usually clearing sewers.

That's pretty naive to say that, you obviously don't know Thailand. The charges are entirely political and this is all about taking down an enemy and covering up secrets. Anyone and everyone linked to the pongpat case will be taken down without leniancy (google and read the reason why then you'll understand), they'll never be free in Thailand again.. Meanwhile, the usual gangsters are allowed to go about their money making rackets.

There are cell phones and drugs in Thai prisons. How do you think they got there? And who has them? Nothing to do with all prisoners being treated the same...

Here's a clue: One plus green does not equal cube.

So Pongpat is doing well and adapted to prison life. Dear General will be pleased that his people Are happy.

Chooka.

From your posts it appears you do not like, as you put it, the dear General. May I ask why? Do you know him personally, and through this are able to form an opinion? I would say that you're not a Thai national but a farang expat, so may I also ask why you show such disdain toward him?

Has he implemented anything that has affected your life style here? Also, he is no longer a General, although protocol allows him to keep the title. He is now the Prime Minister. Why can't we all be a little civil and at least show some respect for the Office,

There are cellphones and drugs in prison.

If you've got money, you can get a better job at a more spacious place (possibly in the prison hospital) - you'll have nice place to rest during daytime.

But at night you'll be in the same cell as the others.

You can buy certain rights with cigarettes, like you can have another prisoner wash your clothes for you.

You can buy things and food in the prison shop if you've money. Sharing them with fellow prisoners will give you some status and make things easier.

A good relation with the prison doctor and regular donations to the prison hospital can get you some stuff in, like better medicines - but nothing illegal.

Money certainly helps a lot and without money life is extremely hard and you'll depend on the generosity of other prisoners.

You can just forget about your own private cell, nice food or a good life - even if you've money.

Thai prison is about surviving - nothing more.

Maybe his on his way to meet with Thaksin. A man with his wealth can organise a false passport and never be seen again.

His journey to wealth is rather the same as Thaksin`s. A string of failed businesses with a lot of money lost before accessing the right contacts in government that would transform his fortunes.

substitute passports are easy to come by if the price is right.

I fail to understand why a Billionaire would bother to loan such a small amount of money - 120 m..he is meant to be one of the richest people in TH...

That's it with the rich, borrow other peoples money, never use your own if you have any.If things go wrong, bankruptcy or leave the country and sit it out.Assets in wife and maids name. The super rich are obscene vultures.
