Applying for an Education Visa - London

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Would really appreciate your help / advice if possible..... well.... its more confirmation needed.... I think.

I am spending a year out my current job in England to experience living in Thailand for a year and learn the language.

I have arranged with a school in CM, paid the deposit, got the documents etc and now what is remaining is to apply for my Ed Visa at the London Thai Embassy.

Everything is ready to go but i am doubting myself on one thing.....

Which Visa do i initially apply for? I am guessing that its going to be the '3. Non-Immigrant (3 Month/ Single Entry)' Visa - as i presume that once I arrive, the Visa will get extended adter every 3 month at immigration etc....

Could anyone confirm that for me before I send if off?

The other options are as follows....

3. Non-Immigrant (3 Month/ Single Entry)

4. Non-Immigrant (1 Year/ Multiple Entries)

5. Non-Immigrant (3 Year/ Multiple Entries)

6. Non-Immigrant O-A (3 Month/ Single Entry)

7. Non-Immigrant O-A (1 Year/ Multiple Entries)

Many Thanks in advance coffee1.gif

Eddie.

You apply for a non-immigrant visa, and will recieve a 3 month/single entry non-ED visa.

(non-immigrant Education).

The 3 months is the validity of the visa, it means that you must enter Thailand within 3 months of issuance and will be allowed to stay for 90 days. You cna extend your stay with papwerwork from the school at immigration.

Thanks guys. So it will be option 3 yeah?

The reason I ask is because of the payment... I need to sent a postal order to cover the cost and don't want to get that wrong and delay the visa?

I was talking with a DM and he told me he had a 1 year multi entry Ed visa from America with paperwork from a Thai language school.

Every 3 months he had to leave the country but no worries about 90 day immigration reports and checking his Thai ability.

Maybe he was not accurately with his description of his process.

Strictly speaking, Ed Visa can only be issued as a Single Entry, according to MFA.

Some Honoury Consulate issue Multiple Entry but is not correct way.

I thought it sounded strange but I guess possible.

But since he is a DM and travels a lot it fits his lifestyle and not need 90 day extensions or attendance reports.

I didn't know that- I've always had multiple entry ED visas (three of them anyway)- two from Hull and then the final one from London.

You can just put cash and it will be accepted even if they say it is not. Postal orders are stupidly expensive.

If possible at all I recommend that you apply for a multiple entry visa.

I was talking with a DM...

What is a DM?
DM - digital nomad.

multi - entry Ed visa would mean never needing any documents from your school to extend the visa, just a border run.

Not sure if there is any danger of being tested about learning Thai or about outside Thailand a lot while on Ed visa.

Not sure is schools are being forced to report true attendance yet.

Hi,

just to share my experience of getting a visa in London (although done in person). Like the OP, I'm taking time out of work to study Thai. Although I took a whole host of proof of funds and other docs, they were only interested in the confirmation letter from chula university for 2 months confirmed course - I got a 1year multiple entry visa (£125).

Hope this helps

Guys,

Thanks for all your comments. Really been a great help.

I eventually got through to the London Thai embassy and the person I spoke to confirmed I needed the 3 month single entry non-imm visa.... Then it gets extended every 3 month till my year is up. Obviously there's no harm in getting the 1 year multi visa too by the sounds of it
