Pandas in Chiang Mai Zoo enjoy New Year presents

BANGKOK, 1 January 2015 (NNT) - Chiang Mai Zoo is celebrating the New Year with an activity which allows zoo visitors to give presents to giant pandas.

Chiang Mai Zoo Director Vet. Kanchai Saenwong and his deputy Niphon Wichairat on Thursday attended the launching ceremony of the activity to give presents to the two pandas of the zoo, Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui. The activity attracted a great number of zoo visitors who watched the two pandas opening their present boxes containing their favorite food.

The zoo is packed with tourists this holiday season. The zoo is working with provincial police units in Chiang Mai and paramedical personnel in ensuring safety for the tourists throughout the New Year festivities.

That zoo is an absolute disgrace! The panda lives on a tiny concrete ledge with almost no plant life at all!

I agree. However, if there were plants and dirt floors etc (more natural) the growth of harmful pathogens is much greater. The pandas represent the most expensive animals to buy or rent in the world.

Used to be the white tiger was very valuable, now nearly free.
