Popular Post Costas2008 Posted January 7, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 7, 2015 I feel really sorry for these women that fall victims to unscrupulous scammers. The dream of getting a farang husband and having a better life is still at large in Thailand. Hope that these scams get better coverage on Thai media to warn future victims. Till then.....we will be hearing again and again of similar cases. 23

Popular Post HeijoshinCool Posted January 7, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 7, 2015 I'm waiting for "The shoe's on the other foot now" comments!!! . Yea, and they would be highly inappropriate and indicative of cold hearts and immature mentalities. I feel sad for the woman. 400k is an awful lot of cash for a Thai nurse to lose. Hope the guy gets in a head-on with a telephone pole on the way to the bank. Does Facebook not cooperate in fraud investigations? Anybody have advice how she could pursue such a process? 16

The incentive could have been to get the $1.1 million gift he (she, impersonating a he) promised to send her if she could pay the delivery charge of THB 400,000. She sent the 400k to a Kasikorn account in the name of a Thai woman, so the scammer is a very likely Thai living in Thailand. She may have a chance to retrieve this money or at least some of it. Who better to scam a Thai woman than another Thai woman who knew exactly how to pull her strings. BTW the report says she's 39, not 30. That a very vulnerable age for a single Thai woman. 19
Popular Post Greenhill Posted January 7, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 7, 2015 Anyone know how a nurse in Buriram gets 400,000 baht in the 1st place?? 8

First she was stupid to call someone she does not even know a boyfriend Second she was stupid to believe someone she does not know to be a boyfriend Third she was stupid to think someone would give her 1.1 million dollars Lastly she was stupid to think someone who gave her 1.1 million dollars would not pay $10000 postage . She then was even more stupid to think postage can cost $10000. Did she think her bf was sending her a house? 25

She didn't have the cash. She had to remortgage her mother's farm to get it. It's quite unusual to see the scams going the other way. How often to we hear of foreigners losing their shirts in Thailand? 2

Popular Post Katipo Posted January 7, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 7, 2015 While I truly feel sorry for this woman, i do wish the local media would give the same sort of attention to all the foreigners who are scammed by local women. Sadly, it's no surprise at all that they don't however. 17

Can't people get proper jobs anymore they have to resort to such low scams on the naive? I bet he will be here soon bragging about his pikey 'earnings' and his inability to get a table at a food court soon.... 3

sweden4ever Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Theparak ended up making seven transfers, spending a total of THB400,000, to a Kasikorn bank account under the name Karnchana Maklang, a typical Thai woman's name. It seems like she got scammed by a Thai lady in USA I'm waiting for "The shoe's on the other foot now" comments!!! . Popular Post inzman Posted January 7, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 7, 2015 Thais scamming Thais, but the Falang gets the blame because a Thai would never do this. Couldn't pin it on a Burmese I guess. 13

It appears the whole family went for the big payoff. Must have been a real brainstorming session. Som nam naa. And for every one of these Thai stories, there are equally hundreds about foreigners being ripped off. But that's OK in a Xenophobic society. No justice for them. 6

The dream of having a Thai wife and having a better life on their meagre pension. The sooner these scammers are exposed and get better coverage in farang media the better. 'Til then TV will continue to have tales of woe and deception posted by gullible farang taken for everything. Buriram and 400k in the same sentence somehow just dont sound right, just goes to show they aint all as poor as they claim. Greed, pure greed, som nam na. Donnie Brasco Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Anyone know how a nurse in Buriram gets 400,000 baht in the 1st place??hSaves 5000 THB per month for six or seven years ? We used to call this "her life's savings". Very very sad. 2

Do they feel sorry for the elderly foreigners they strip of everything and then find another victim? As Buddhists well know, 'you get what you give'. Maybe not this individual, but this is typical of the race. 2
