Does anyone know where sewing supplies are carried in Chiang Mai and environs. I have tried Pinn, but they are most interested in knitting; don't have much in the way of sewing supplies.

Loads and loads in and around Warorot market.

Not necessarily. No selections of buttons, ribbons, lace, thread, elastic, bobbins, etc.

Waroot Market has several shops that are loaded to the gills with all those things, my wife drags me to them coincidentally at least twice a year! I couldn't begin to give directions although the Chinese Temple is a near landmark.

There's a shop called Kul - 30 Chang Moi Tad Mai Road. If you can't find what you want in there, it doesn't exist! Tel no 053 233 833 or 053 233 318. There's another place just across the road with a fair selection too.

In English they write "Kul," but in Thai it's actually pronounced "Goon." Here's a streetview of their storefront. Keep in mind, though, you gotta be really skinny to get around in this jam-packed, crammed-full-of-all-kinds-of-notions-and-whatnots store. The clerks are very helpful and friendly.

Sorry, that is not correct.

Absolutely! Enter the market area by going under the Chinese Tori Gate spanning Chiang Moi road. Stay on the right side of the street. At the first corner you reach, there is a huge sewing shop on your right. Tier upon tier of buttons, every size, color and strength of threads, boxes full of bobbins, needles of every size and shape, elastic in half a dozen different sizes and colors... I've never needed lace so I can't address that item, but considering that they run three huge shops in the same general area, and have upper-floor lofts filled with store rooms, I've got to believe that they can handle your needs. I've never seen a shop anywhere with a greater selection! The owners are Indian-Thai, speak enough English to be helpful, and are nice folks.

Thank you for directions. I will attempt to find the location. Thanks.

CM Community Church has a series of orientation sessions for newcomers. It's a whole series a different sessions on Saturday mornings, starting with an overview session on Saturday, January 17.

The session on Saturday, January 31 is a guided tour of Wararot Market to discover the full range of good available for sale and where to find them. That session is free (although other sessions in the series have a modest fee)

The tour on January 31 will start at the CM Community Church's Raintree Center parking lot, across the river from Warorot Market. Details for this tour and the entire series of newcomer orientation are available from [email protected] or [email protected]

I know that it is an unusual attitude on my part, but one of the reasons that I came to Thailand was to get away from CHRISTIAN SALESMEN AND WOMEN WHO THINK THAT THE WORLD NEEDS SAVING!

Your yelling is rude.

Your statement that what you want is not available In Warrote Market is off the mark,

There are many better places to avoid Christians so CM was not a very good choice for that run away.

We await your redeeming features. Welcome to the zoo.
