Thailand newbie spending 2-3 months in Phuket

Hi, I'd greatly appreciate all the advice I could get. I'm an early 20's American and I'm headed over to Soi Taied in Chalong to train Muay Thai / BJJ full time while enjoying everything else the island has to offer. Anyone familiar with the area that could share some information? I'm having trouble finding serviced apartments / short term rentals in that area online, any websites I should be aware of? Also, will I still be able to leave the country and return for an additional 30 legal days in Thailand as an American or is that a thing of the past?

Thank you!

Don't forget to pack your tapout singlets and you'll fit right in. It seems to be the uniform choice with about 95% of the people there.

Make sure you buy a pitbull and rent a convertible lifted Jeep to make the look complete.

Do you have a gym in particular?

Tiger Muay thai gym, Phuket top team gym are just to name a few.

I'd just arrive and look around the soi as there is plenty of accommodation and other gyms to check out.

I always find that doing things online in Thailand leads to higher costs and lack of choice.

Arrive and thrive.

LOL that sounds like about what I expected. I'm not really into that scene or anything but 2 months escaping my stressful life, getting in amazing shape, and having some fun is exactly what I need and no tapout shirted jeep bros are gonna stop me. I thought just showing up and figuring out where I'm staying afterwards might be the way to go I just needed to hear it from someone who has a clue! Do you know if I can add an extra 30 days to my stay as an American by leaving/reentering or will I have to figure something else out? Thanks a bunch

Assuming you have not arranged any sort of visa and just get the 30 day stamp on arrival, you can extend for another 30 days at the Immigration office (Phuket Town or Patong) for 1,900 baht.

There are a heap of hotels and guesthouses in that street. Just book into one of them for 2 nights. Rent a scooter and take a look around.

Studio 77, Anchan Resort, Muay Thai house are 3 that I can think of

The thread title states "spending 2-3 months in Phuket."

I agree with what you say, LIK. The OP can enter on a 30 visa exemption stamp, and get another 30 day extention.

Question is, would he be allowed back in on another 30 visa exemption stamp, straight after his 60 days here, should he want to do the 3 months here?

My advice to the OP is to come in on a 60 day tourist visa, which WILL be extended by 30 days for 1900 baht, thus definately giving the OP a guaranteed 60 days, with a guaranteed option of 90 days, should he want it.

If it's too much of a problem to get a 60 day tourist visa in The States, the OP may consider buying an air ticket to a neighbouring country, with visa on arrival, and going to the Thai Embassy.

Just something to consider.
