Chiang Mai Zoo welcomes baby red-shanked douc monkey

BANGKOK, 11 January 2015 (NNT) - Chiang Mai Zoo has announced that it will organize a naming contest for a baby red-shanked douc monkey, the 6th of its kind in the zoo.

Deputy Director of Chiang Mai Zoo Niphon Wichairat said the zoo recently welcomed its new member, red-shanked douc monkey whose sex was still unknown. Its father is 6-year-old “Boo” and mother is 5-year-old “Nang.” A naming contest for the baby monkey will take place soon.

Red-shanked douc monkeys are colourful since there are five colors all over their body. They live in groups and usually sleep after eating. They are found in rainforests in Laos and northern Vietnam. In Thailand, red-shanked douc monkeys can be seen in Chiang Mai Zoo in Chiang Mai, Dusit Zoo in Bangkok and Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chon Buri province.

I would suggest "Slave" as he/she will be a slave for the rest of his/her life to human barbarity and ignorance.

Zoo it's not where wild animals live........it's the forests their natural habitat.
