but any reputable places to buy an engagement ring?

genuine diamond, quality etc.

not interested in the chinese gold shops (cheats!) and while tiffany's has the guarantee and trustworthyness they are way overpriced.

so any help appreciated...

Oooooo, that's a tough one. Find me one jewelry shop in Thailand that isnt owned by a Chinese and I would be surprised. I have no idea on this one.

We were in Siam Paragon on the weekend and saw lots and lots and lots of jewellry shops. I should think that buying in a place like that would give you some sort of guarantee.

Best place is Heng Gems in bangkok, bought my engagement ring there and lots of other jewelery, the items all come with certificates, also had all products bought from these valued in the UK, worth triple.

Don't know what it is about those little blue boxes...

Be sure to check the quality of the rings at Cartier Bangkok before purchase.

My finance and I each purchased a ring from there and I think hers is of questionable quality.

We got a nice engagement ring last year, from Jubilee at Emporium Mall, actually. You would think Emporium would be over-priced, but it was good price and an interesting design. We also looked at jewelry stores in Central World Plaza and the hotel arcade adjoining Gaysorn, saw good ones with OK prices at both spots...
