Report Pattaya's CCTV Catches Litterbugs: Fines and Cleanup Ordered
Picture courtesy of Pattaya Mail In a fresh crackdown on littering, four individuals in Pattaya were caught by the city’s expanding CCTV network while dumping rubbish in a recently cleaned forest zone. This decisive move has been met with public support as officials aim to combat illegal dumping effectively. On Sunday, July 27, city workers had just completed a thorough cleaning and tidying of a green area. However, by the next day, the site was once again scattered with litter. Fortunately, the city’s newly extended surveillance system captured the culprits in the act, providing clear footage of their offence. A city official was quoted saying, "The cameras are up now, and it’s no longer easy to dump and disappear.” The timely installation of these surveillance cameras proved instrumental as they documented the littering just hours after the cleanup. The visual evidence led to fines of 2,000 baht for each offender, totalling 8,000 baht, alongside an order for them to clear the dumped waste. Public response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many residents expressing their approval online. One citizen praised the initiative, stating, “Excellent work! Proud of our officers.” Many see this as a long-needed step to tackle the problem of illegal dumping in Pattaya. However, the discussion has also sparked debate on the level of penalties. Some suggest a more lenient approach for first-time offenders, wondering if a warning could be sufficient in certain cases. Nonetheless, the dominant sentiment supports the city’s tough stance, reinforcing the message that littering will not be tolerated, especially with vigilance supported by technology. The surveillance network, initially set up to enhance public safety and deter crime, is proving to be a valuable tool for maintaining urban cleanliness. By leveraging technology, city authorities aim to deter careless behaviour and foster a cleaner environment. This crackdown aligns with a broader initiative to enhance urban sustainability and cleanliness. Pattaya officials are confident that ongoing monitoring and public engagement will play crucial roles in ensuring accountability and long-term change in the city’s environmental management. As Pattaya continues to evolve into a more sustainable and tourist-friendly city, such measures indicate a serious commitment to environmental stewardship and community welfare. The city’s proactive approach is not just a deterrent but a call to action for residents to nurture a greener habitat. Ultimately, Pattaya’s efforts to combat littering through advanced surveillance might serve as a model for other cities facing similar challenges. By showing that technology can effectively manage public behaviour, Pattaya is paving the way for a cleaner and more responsible urban living experience. Expat Discontent in Thailand
I am unhappy with both Thailand and Cambodia, more so with Thailand because Cambodia is just emerging and Thailand should have learned from their mistakes. With all due respect to Thailand, they havent had "stability" in their society and government for many years. Problems get bandaids. Other problems get ignored, or handled by means all out of proportion to the problem. Factions keep fighting for their own packets. Meanwhile, the environment gets more degraded, the air worse, the discontent more obvious and the charm erased. You can walk down a street and choking smog in Bangkok and not find a Gai Yang vendor, but there are western chain stores. Plus visas are annoying Other than Siem Reap, Cambodia is a primitive oligarchichal chinese criminal run shi*thole, that quite frankly the world, meaning us and the French, should completely rebuild as payback. But Siem Reap itself is a taste of Asia as it was, a Disneyland with better air and a govt oblivious to barang so to speak, with the benefit of all the goodies from Thailand and easy, cheap travel to the steaming fleshpots of Soi Nana. No more. Lets start a war over ruins and drive 100,000 plus jungle grubbers on both sides into camps. Like WTF? These people are all ethnically connected, live in tin shacks, eat bugs and now you are gonna blast 7-11s with crap Chinese artillery or send OUR F*IN Planes to cluster bomb the jungle? For what? Dont explain it. The entire elected hierarchy of both countries should be taken out to the woodshed and biatch whipped with their pants down like sexually ambivalent Eton schoolboys, then forced to cough up their ill gotten gains to rebuild villiges in Surin and Preah Vihear. Build some nice roads for tourists too, instead of promoting over tourism with Russians on the Islands while they are at it. My visa is up in 6 months. Who knows. Places like Batumi, the USVI, Greece, Puerto Rico, The Smokies, Las Vegas are all looking real good. -

Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
I was on Avodart for 6 months and Harnal Ocaz (I stopped it after 30 days due to side effects, breathing problem at night). My urine flow is good and no more pain and prostate discomfort. But I'm sensitive to alcohols (wine and beer are the worst). I drink sometimes, perhaps once a week and very limited. -
