willfreeman Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 anyone recommend any places for breakfast that are open early - say 6am onwards?
uptheos Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm guessing that places only open that early if they are showing an American final of some kind, like the Superbowl. If anyone knows of a place I'm sure they'll be along shortly.........which part of town?
willfreeman Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 ill be staying santitham, but anywhere around there, inside the moat or nimihamin area is fine. The only place i know that is open early is the 24 hr thai restaurant on the moat but they dont have the full menu available in the morning, or didnt the few times i went there last year
daoyai Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Earliest places i know of... McDs, BK, Rimping at Maya, Salom Joi, Hotel buffets example, CM gate hotel, or Raming lodge, Cafe Siam, ...or local style ...moo ping and kau niaw or noodles at any fresh market at dawn. .. I think the Blue Diamond opens kind of early.
uptheos Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Yes there's loads of little Thai stalls that serve breakfasts, jok (a rice with pork porridge) is particularly liked here and there's always noodles.
willfreeman Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 was hoping to get an american breakfast somewhere, i recall mention of a breakfast place at maya open early?
chingmai331 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 At Rimping, MAYA, they offer a set brkfst for 59 baht, open at 6 am. It's ok with white toast, hot-dog, spam, 2 egss, coffee. Want more coffee? that will be another 40 baht.
JulieM Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The is a restaurant attached to the Empire Residence on Nimmen which does a all you can eat breakfast buffet for about 120 baht. If you can find the Lotus Tesco on Nimmen than right on top of and behind that is the Empire Residence. I think it starts at 6 AM but am not sure. For that price you are not going to get high quality meats, but there is some ham, I think.
Popular Post Ulysses G. Posted February 9, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 9, 2015 I always have a Egg Mcmuffin that early in the morning and it is fine. A lot of people I know think that they are the only good thing that McDonald's makes, but being American, I enjoy a Big Mac every once a blue moon too. 3
Seligne2 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm an early riser, I have found it difficult to find an early morning Western breakfast place. The best place I have found is Cafe de Siam at the SE corner of Loi Kroh and Khampangdin Rd. That is between the Chiang Mai Entertainment Complex (CMEC) and the Duangtawan Hotel. They open at 06:30. To be honest, it's not the best breakfast around, but it opens hours earlier than most other places. <removed link to Bkk Post as per forum rules> (this article says open at 06:00, but I think 06:30)

The only place i know that is open early is the 24 hr thai restaurant on the moat but they dont have the full menu available in the morning, or didnt the few times i went there last year that would be Jok Somphet. i go there perhaps 4 or 5 times per month at odd hours and the full menu is available. once in a while if they run out of something at like 3:30-4:00 a.m. , it may not be until perhaps 6:00 when the next shift comes that they will bake more chicken, fish, etc. but it's not often. 1

thrilled Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Most likely Mc Donald's.Many restaurants all over Thailand don't open early for breakfast
PlanetX Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Cafe de Siam is excellent for the morning - if I am in that area its my go to place MAYA is not bad at all iif you are near Nimman/ Canal Rd - order bacon instead of Thai hot dog

I like to hit the gym about 8am mon-wed-fri, so like to eat around 630. Other days i can wait till 9 when other venues open.
Ulysses G. Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Cafe de Siam is excellent for the morning - if I am in that area its my go to place Some of the best muesli/granola in town IMO. Good toast and OK croissants. Decent coffee.
chiang mai Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 630 for Bake and Bite in Wat Gate, isn't it? 7:00am
