Losec and Miracid

Featured Replies

I don't know, but went to the local hospital on Friday and got 90 miracid and 180 enerpil for ฿180.

The English name of the active agent is written on the packet. Miracid contains Omeprazole. I never heard of Losec, go buy some and look.

That is a really low price :) I know Miracid is cheap but not that cheap

Losec and Miracid have the same therapeutic ingredient --- Omeprazole --- in the same amounts. I was prescribed Losec in 1993 and, at that time, it was imported and very expensive. Miracid is made in Thailand and sold for a fraction of the cost. I switched to Miracid and, for me, it works just as well as Losec. Why pay those inflated import taxes?

i have been on miracid for 6yrs. works fine.

i finks ig got his sums wrong, miracid comes in box's of 14 for 45bht.and 90 devided by 14?

I used to be dependent on Omeprazole (Miracid) but got tuned into lactobacilus acidophilus probiotics two years ago. Have only needed a handful of Miracid since then. Thought I would pass that along.

I was prescribed 'Pariet' 10MG but changed years ago to 'Miracid' 20 MG have 1x every other day also works fine for past 10 years..

Pariet comes from Switzerland and cost 1.190 baht here.. for 14 tablets

Miracid made here and cost 38 baht.. for 14 tablets

My apologies I only got 60 miracid, they come in a strip of ten, I got 6 strips of miracid and 18 strips of anapril for a total of ฿180. Just looked at my bill, the anapril was ฿0.5 a tablet and the miracid ฿1.5 per tablet.

Maybe different strength ?? 10 tablets per strip ?

For past 10 years my 'Miracid' 20 MG have always come in strips of 14 capsules

As for your Enerpil you got done....... I always buy by the unopened box 10 strips of 10 tablets works out at just ฿0.2 per tablet

Edit: maybe again strength ? my Enerpil are 20 MG

That's ฿20 per box, very, very cheap, especially for 20mg, mine are only 5mg, and I thought I was getting a deal, I know at the local pharmacy they are about twice as high.

Losec is the original drug from Astra in Sweden. At one time it was the most moneymaking export in Sweden

miracid and a few others in Thailand are the Generic versions of losec, took Losec for quite a while on prescription in farangistan and jumped over omicid and miracid when I came to Thailand

Losec is expensive where ever you are in the word,

I dont know where people are getting THB 45 for 14 miracid, I pay THB 75 for 14

I take Moprix (Omeprazole 20 mg), manufactured in Spain, is this the same as Losec and Miracid? Can't remember the price, but I know that the pharmacy I buy from does 4 kamagra for 110 baht. And 100 simvastat for 295.

my stomach must be in a right state, I get though boxes of gaviscon as well sad.png Asked my doctor about the long time side effects of losec, he said he's been on them for 15 years!

Yes don't have it even tried the meds for it just to be sure, chronic gastritis and sometimes small ulcers. Some things don't help like Chocolate and booze

I have non-specific GRD ie they don't know what causes it in my case laugh.png and used to go through "family packs" of Rennies, gallons of gaviscon and similar

The Doc put me on Losec to try them and the change was incredible

I did ask a friend of mine who is a pharmacist about the long term use of Omeprazole and he said there is nothing in the literature about long term usage at prescribed levels doing any damage to you and suggested I am most likely doing more damage to myself due to the quantities of Rennies and gaviscon I was taking

so his advice was, if Losec works for me and keeps me "comfortable" and give me a better quality of life then keep taking them.

He did caution me however, If I ever stopped taking them, I would get a "rebound effect" and should expect chronic heat burn etc etc as I came off the medication.

Most of the Pharmacies in Ratchatewi, Payai Thai and Pratunam charge me 50 baht

The same. They are both omeprazole..which is available in multiple other brand names as well.

Actually Losec brand is no longer on market in Thailand though some places may still have it on the shelves.

I belive Losec still is in the market here. I see them in many Pharmacies. Today only a couple of hors ago in the phamacy 3rd floor at Central Sala Deng in Bangkok. 995 baht was the price and 70 baht for the same Miracid box
