DIP invites Thai manufacturers to enter into Thailand’s annual awards contest for outstanding industries

BANGKOK, 22 April 2015 (NNT) – The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP), which is under the Ministry of Industry, is inviting Thai manufacturers of all sizes to fill out applications to be considered for a Prime Minister’s Industry Award, the annual honorary awards that are given to outstanding businesses in the industrial manufacturing sector.

The award is divided into two broad categories:

1. The Prime Minister’s Best Industry Award (for Overall Achievement)
2. The Prime Minister’s Industry Award (which is broken out into seven categories)
a. Excellence in Productivity
b. Excellence in Environment Quality Conservation
c. Excellence in Safety Management
d. Excellence in Quality Management
e. Excellence in Energy Management
f. Excellence in Small and Medium Industries Management
g. Excellence in Logistics Management

Malaysian man arrested for stealing big bike

Chiang Mai:- A Malaysian man was arrested Tuesday for having stealing a big bike motorcycle from a farang and his Thai wife in Chiang Mai’s Hang Dong district.


Pol Maj Gen Banthit Tungkhaseni, commander of Chiang Mai Immigration Police, said Tan Hou was arrested at a hotel in Chiang Mai’s Fang district.

Phuket health officials will only enforce alcohol promotion laws on a case-by-case basis. The Phuket Provincial Health Office (PPHO) confirmed that no action would be taken against bar and restaurant owners for showing images that promote alcohol unless complaints are made against the establishment.

Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha oversaw the opening of the Thai Telecommunication Relay Service near the Government House yesterday. The opening was to celebrate the nationwide rollout of telephone booths for the hearing impaired. The booths allow Thais to make regular phone calls as well as file government complaints and make necessary emergency calls.

The Commerce Ministry Aims to Dispose of 10 Million Tonnes of Rice in 2015

The overwhelming stock piles of rice, measuring 18 million tonnes, is expected to be lowered to 8 million tonnes by the end of 2015. The Commerce Ministry states that they are working diligently to boost rice sales and will be talking with trade partners over the next 6 months to rid the country of some of the rice stock piles that have amassed.

Pattaya prepares for Summer Thunderstorm from China
